Say there's a planet made for and populated by ASD/AS individuals. What do you think it would be like and what would you want it to be like? _________________ Queen of the anti-FAAAS. FAAAS does NOT speak for me and many other families!!

Quiet. People don't talk unless they have something meaningful and honest to communicate about.
Quiet. People concentrating in their interests and development and work, rather than trying to call attention on themselves, self-promote, be in the spotlight. _________________ "It is the wounded oyster that mends its shell with pearl" - Ralph Waldo Emerson |

I guess such a planet would resemble the world from the Eggheads episode from Sliders. _________________ "Wit beyond measure is man's greatest treasure."

I pondered this as well. Some Ideas, I had so far are:
* More libraries than cinemas
* noise pollution would be a crime
* "bring your favorite plush animal to work" day _________________ I am no native speaker. Please contact me, if I made grammatical mistakes in the posting above.

Boring, especially if you happen to also have ADD. On occassion, I kind of NEED extremely loud, talkative environments. Otherwise, I go insane with boredom. _________________ (Currently undergoing personality reboot) |

| Humans were naturally intended to be sociable, like bees. A whole planet of people with noticeable social impairment wouldn't be anything even remotely resembling ours. Autistic people are great, but they aren't 'balanced' enough to constitute a majority. It would be like a planet of gays and lesbians: fun, but brief. |

Well, that may be true, generally speaking, for humans HERE. But just imagine that this planet has been in existence for many thousands of years, and the inhabitants are, therefore, not "naturally intended to be sociable", and the NT's would be considered foreign and alien. _________________ Queen of the anti-FAAAS. Almost like this one, only a little more silent.
Autistic people are still human. There's not so much that would change.
There are autistic criminals, non-criminals, rude and friendly autistic people. All of them exhibit the annoyance and the fun of humankind. Assumptions, kindness, cruelness, temper, shallow emotions, strategic thinking, philosophers, risk takers, quick and thick people, quiet and talkative people... a bit of everything.
I'm the fun loving, risk taking, annoyingly loud, talkative and easily meltdown-ish person for example.
All autistic people have in common is their ASD. And even that is a connection of vary and degree.
They'd better start a government and enforce communication rules quickly. Or else vandalism and murder would soon overtake the planet. How to manage a world without communication? How to feed, how to live, how to bear each other? Communication in any form is a necessary evil.
There would even be bullying. It's natural.
I'd rather inhabit a planet on my own. Much like the Little Prince.
I wonder whether I'd ever wish for a nasty rose to care for? |

Everyone would have a personal volume and brightness-and-contrast adjuster knob for their external environment.
I'd like to think that there would be a community spirit like on here as well... sure, there would be conflict, we're talking about a planet full of people with underdeveloped emotion and control here... but that people would help one another out in terms of understanding their difficulties and developing methods of dealing with them.
(And by that, I mean difficulties that the person themself wants to fix... there would be none of this pressure to conform to the outside world, I hope.) _________________ "Maybe the ones who have it easy are missing part of the adventure."

i'm like this .. i just annoy people in the process because i don't know when to stop and act emotional for them. i'm very smart but sort of childish too. i LOVE to play and i know how to have fun, which i can do all alone. i like people, they just don't always like me.
i do love libraries though. |

Lying would be a criminal act. We would have developed warp drive by now, because fewer people would be engaging in shallow pursuits, such as fads and fame. Just curious, if our planet had evolved this way, how do you guys think human history would be different? And wouldn't some of us be just as cruel to the small NT population as some of them are to us? We're still fallible humans. _________________ Attacking the Darkness Since nineteen eighty-six |

For one thing people will be socially required to explain what is causing their feelings, emotions into words. For instance if they feel sad or upset, say so. Don't expect the other party to guess at what is making you upset. If you're angry, say why you are angry, not just the fact you are angry.
Facial expressions won't mean much. Culturally eye contact would be rude. (just like pointing to people is in the NT realm)
If working on group tasks, please brush aside the social chatter and get working on each task. That way we can get work done faster and more efficiently.
Social chatter, would be based more on interests, hobbies, etc rather than relationships and gossip.
Make gossip a crime... I don't like to be bashed so I don't like it when other people engage at putting gown their friends.
The Golden Rule is more than a figure of speech... We actually practice it out. Do onto others as we want them to do onto us... That way if we lack so called "theory of mind" we can understand others because we can understand what works for ourselves and what doesn't.
The downside would be, social autistics and NT's will be left emotionally hurt and deprived. They may take no response or emotion to be an attack against themselves. They may feel left out, because they can't relate. If the NT doesn't get the emotional support they need, then it makes them socially isolated and puts them at a disadvantage.
I think in many ways it would be a better world, but in many ways not. It would be different...
I like the idea of quiet. I'd also like to see more nature and less urban sprawl.
As far as personality goes, I'm not much a risk taker. I perfer to think of myself as imaginative, creative, curious to learn everything around me. I want to understand people as much as I can as well as make a difference. I like to be as helpful as I can. I don't like conflict, but at the same time, if I have to create conflict I will in effort to help resolve a greater conflict. I'm also very sensitive and I don't take rudeness very well. |

There would be lots of trees, but no forests... noone would have ever seen a forest.
There would be no need for politics we would simply analyse every problem through logic and then follow the result through to the end (No matter the consequences)
The bars and clubs would have multiple computers all over, so that people could flirt and hook up without actually talking to eachother or looking eachother in the eye.
The worst punnishment would not be isolation, but forced socializing.
We would develop science because of curiosity and interest, not because of money, and therefor everything would be throughly tested before it hit the marked.
There would be no such thing as cosmetics or fashion, clothes would be made and worn for comfort.
(Sounds like a nice place, but I kinda like the NT's weird tendencies, I'll stay here ) _________________ Once I knew everything, then I got smarter, now the only thing I know is that I know nothing.
Strange how that worked out isn't it? |
