Though everyone desires different traits in their partner, I think it's very wrong to have a society where we are sizeist. I am a male that likes more full-figured women. But in this society fat women are seen as bad. Many men don't like fat women and actually make fun of them. It is exactly the same with males. I am a very small man (5'4). Most women (whether they admit it or noy) don't like small men. They look at small men the same way many men look at fat women. Not only do women not like small males, they also make fun of them the same way men do to fat women. I want to know what the big (pun intended) freakin deal is. So what if a girl is fat or a man is small? I have my own shallowness the same way everyone does, but what happened to judging character?? In the media, why do we portray fat women and short males in such a negative way? There are SOME fat women or short males portrayed as positive, but not usually. I'm not trying to piss and moan but i feel sizism is an extreme form of prejudice.

I like the bigger girls too, not morbidly obese, but within a range of pudginess.

I suppose it's inevitable that society will have their aesthetic ideals... As people mature though, I think they care less and less about that. Maybe what you're talking about is just a sort of childishness rather than deep-seated (pun intended) prejudice.

I admit I don't find fat girls attractive. But that's no reason to make fun.

It's encouraging to know that there are men who like bigger girls. Personally, I'm a size 16 and weigh 180 lbs and sometimes I worry that no man will ever find me attractive.

A friend of mine has a wife who has taken up walking in a hilly area to lose weight, and she has been quite successful at that. If I were in his shoes, I would have no problem with the way she is or was, with or without the weight. The difference is that she looks a lot healthier now. The exercise made her stronger, and she will probably live a lot longer, too.

The fact is that there is a wide range of attractive body shapes, but that doesn't mean that either men or women should let themselves go to the point where walking to the mailbox makes their tongue hang out.

A real problem develops when people become so self conscious of how they look that they stop going out to do recreational things. The inactivity makes them even worse, and so on and it spirals from there. It's a difficult thing to handle when you see someone do that, because the real problem is that the person feels miserable and won't do anything with other people. If you say something about it, the person may misinterpret it as criticism about their weight which isn't the main cause of concern.

Interesting note, I suspect the reason many girls might feel uncomfortable with a shorter male is because it naturally makes them feel bigger by comparison. In many a female mind, insecurities translate "big" to "fat." These insecurities are satisfied if they're convinced they are tiny compared to their partner- pretty easy with a guy who's 6' or above.

At least, this was my initial reservation about dating a shorter guy. I'm only 5'9", but it was tall enough to feel awkward about my height growing up. The fact that I'm thin and weigh less than my boyfriend makes it so that I don't feel bad about being three inches taller than him.

But I have to feel that I am tinier in some way.

Same here. Im attracted to women who are a bit thicker than average but NOT "fat"(by that I mean obese). I'd like to point out that theres a thread in the Adult Discussion forum asking women about whether or not they're repulsed by fat men. It seem to me that most women find fat men signifigantly more repulsive than short men. I swear though, most women seemed to be wired to be sexually attracted to tall men. So if you're a man and you're short, you Gotta find a way to make up for it. Ive known short men who dont seem to have a problem getting girls. Either they really go out of their way to develop their social skills OR they build up their muscles. What I wonder is why short men cant be treated with Human Growth Hormone to make them taller. Fat men, however, seem to be as hard pressed as fat women in terms of getting laid. It has been theorized that Obesity is a sign of bad genes. Unfortunately for the obese, this turns out to be true-Obesity isnt just unsightly, its VERY unhealthy as well.

I think the small men thing also comes from women who want to be protected. My current boyfriend is just the right height to curl around me in bed and it's wonderful. Some women, consciously or not, want to have a boyfriend taller than they are to protect/snuggle them.

That doesn't mean that there's anything wrong with a man being short. But it gets seen as cute or sweet, rather than someone to love by a lot of women.

Hmmm, I suspect there's some sort of evolutionary selection going on when it comes to women's attraction to tall men. Women certainly Do want men to make them feel protected; I guess having a tall bf/hubby makes them feel secure.

The point I was trying to make with this post was that i believe humans (and yes yours truly) need to stop being so superficial and shallow. Yes, I guess men prefer thin women because fat women make them feel self conscious about their size, as do short men to women. I think that's stupid. The media is also stupid portraying fat women and short men as the butt of jokes. Though extremely tall people do take some prejudice too. Just because a man is short doesn't mean he can't protect his woman. Many asian karate masters who are even shorter than me could beat the sh** out of an extremely tall person. And as for men who feel self conscious being with a larger woman: They are nice and squishy with so much softness to play with! I love rubbing their tummies. Also, many larger women have more voluptous breasts and buttocks and thats a GREAT thing to me! There was an ancient sculpture that was found of a voluptous figured woman called the "venus of willendorf (sp)". It just goes to show that people all have their own preferences. 200 years ago large women were seen as sexy. And today, thanks to the hip hop and reaggeton subcultures, large women are again becoming more acceptable in our society. Many men prefer larger women. However, I've met women who don't care about the height of a man, but never a woman who prefers small guys.

I, too, am a guy who much prefers larger women. There is still prejudice attached to BBWs and being "fat", unfortunately, albeit highly unfair. "Fat" women are so much more attractive to me, shame that alot of society doesn't think that way.

Short men, can't say. I'm just about average height myself, but have been attracted to big girls who are taller than me in the past. It looks odd when there's quite a significant height difference, though.

I agree, but they're just NOT going to unless medical science discovers a way to rewire those circuits in the brain-most likely through genetic modification. Isnt in obvious that people are Wired to be shallow and superficial in their judgement of the opposite sex? Dont you see there is a biological REASON for it? Im afraid this is just a reality that neither you nor I nor anyone at the moment can change-ya just got to accept it Wink .Its not so much that men prefer thin women as much as it is that Both Men AND Women find fatness to be unattractive.

I'll have to say sad but statistically true.

lame that is there is just no need to judge based on peoples looks.

i don't understand why women think that being ultra skinny will attract men to them (i am a woman btw) i have heard that men like women with curves. which i think is true.
as for short men... i think that it is to do with women that want to be protected. and that want to wear heels without feeling like they have to justify it.

as for me i don't care about the mans height or weight.

There's nothing sad about this. Being too fat is very unhealthy, with consequences that go far beyond skin-deep appearances. (diabetes, back problems, heart problems, high blood pressure, erectile dysfunction, etc.) It's not about people being superficial, but nevertheless I do think it's strange that people place so much emphasis on the scale reading. There are other things that must also be considered, like strength and endurance, which can only be developed with cardio and weight training, which the scale doesn't measure.
