I have heard some people say that Christopher Paolini books Eragon and Eldest are cliche, and that his third book is going to be even more cliche. Do you think his Inheritence Trilogy is cliche?

"Eragon, I am your brother."

Not that Star Wars isn't cliched to begin with. But Eragon is a /bad/ rip off of Star Wars.

And it's not a trilogy any more, he's writing four books. One can only hope that the incredible delay means that someone's forcing him to actually /work/ on the third book.

I'm more bothered by his (and his fans') pride in his invented language when he has no understanding of basic linguistics.

I actually don't mind cliches that much, though I think in this case it goes beyond "cliche" and approaches "plagiarism of Tolkien."

Seriously, it's a scene-by-scene rip off of Star Wars. Just replace the lightsaber with a dragon and make it be in a LotR setting.
