Alex,
can a laptop be hooked up with a HD LCD TV?
would like to have a look at that video as HD is impossible with just a sky+ box/sub,and only ever see HD through gaming.

Alex, that is brilliant!

But, I had no idea that computers as well as televisions had to be ready for the digital switchover.

I guess it requires that people have to have the Internet.

Oh I like that, way nicer then only having a youtube option, is there any bandwidth issues with the larger screen.

You should be able to if your laptop has a dvi connector on it, most only have the old vgi connectors, you should have an s-video connector, but its not really HD

Your monitor and video card have to be capable of displaying HD....

otherwise you just see standard.

If you decide to implement this, are you going to create a tool button or is there a BB code command required?
Code:
[swf width=640 height=360]http://www.vimeo.com/moogaloop.swf?clip_id=939856[/swf]

hmm transparent backgrounds could be misconstrued. Maybe you could a put a border round it to prevent any confusion, possibly with a label

You can also prevent transparency or create your own background.

btw I created a parser that can retrieve the meta data such as width an hight directly from the swf file. That would enable the user to get it optimally scaled and zoomed, but to put reasonable limits on the size. Obviously you wouldn't do this this every time someone everyone the post. they limit will be imposed regardless, it is up to them if they want it to display correctly upon insertion.

While usually the flash needs to be in focus to use keystroke events, the fact that adobe issued a security patch for flash 9 and under, it might be prudent to prevent those not logged in from viewing flash files.

As flash can load automatically, it might be worth having a pre-warning and giving the user the option to load the content which would be done dynamically. Otherwise you could have flashing content and noise going on, especially if there is more than one.

Another consideration is to only allow content from trusted sources, instead of any flash file.
