What is your favorite 8-bit game console?
Some examples are:
Atari 2600 VCS
Coleco Colecovision
Nintendo NES
Sega Master System
If you have a favorite 8-bit game console that's not on the list, please write it in. |

All I had was an Atari 800 (with tape drive, couldn't afford the floppy at the time)
btw- there are emulators out there for most of the consoles, and the games that went with them. You can turn your gigahertz gigabyte multicore machine into a computer cripple, and play the games of yore (they even have a mainframe emulator for the IBM 360...ancient...
you can find them on the web... |

I'm pretty sure the Atari 2600 and Colecovision were 4-bit.
NES is by far the best 8-bit even though Master System is a little more powerful. |

I had a great time with my Master System. It had a the best port of Mortal Kombat for an 8bit console. I loved Alex The Kid in miracle World at the time. Good thing is it came built in to the console too.
I would of loved to have played Phantasy Star but I missed out on it at the time. |

Mortal Kombat came out for the Master System? Are you sure? The console was dead for like 4 years before it came out. |

Sega Master System
Mortal Kombat

Mortal Kombat 2

There was even an * bit Mortal Kombat 3 on the Sega Gamegear. The Sega Master System pwned the Nes in Europe, Australia and Brazil so there's games appeared in those counties. Folks in the states wouldn't have seen them due to the Master System not doing well there. Those Americans have such bad taste. |

The only 8-bit system I've ever had was the NES. Probably the most common. _________________ At my best I am morbid, politically incorrect, and dirty minded. But it is all in good humor. |

Actually, the 2600 and Colecovision are 8-bit consoles. The microprocessors are a 6507 for the 2600 and a Z80 for the Colecovision. |

| An 8-bit processor doesn't mean it has 8-bit graphics though. The Atari 7800 was the one with 8-bit quality graphics. |

In Brazil they continued to port games to the Master System long after it was dead elsewhere. Although for the most part I think they were just ports of Game Gear versions. _________________ * here for the nachos. |

I love the NES. I could play Duckhunt for hours without getting bored.
Allthough the Master System was slightly more powerfull, neither of the consoles were powerfull for their times compared to even the 286 PC. It didn't really matter though, since the console games from the early 80's were far more entertaining than the computer games. _________________ WP doesn't have a working first amendment.

For me, it's NES by far (top loader, please). Possibly even my favorite console ever.

The whole "bit" thing was very silly. Half of the consoles in the bit wars were misleading. |
