There is an ad, on the left side of the forum, consisting of a picture of a voluptuous blond woman wearing a skimpy pink blouse that is causing me emotional anguish; it reminds of how pathetic I am for not having the abilities necessary to attract a woman of such great social value.

Please remove that ad from the site.

Naah, I say keep the ad.

She looks so shallow and phony that her picture helps me appreciate celibacy.

When I looked at this post, that was the add showing. Which, with the graphic showing the post I was viewing (minus the graphic), reminded me of those infinite regression sorts of pictures.

I don't particularly like the add, but I don't think I'd've noticed it if you hadn't posted about it.

I don't think they can change it, the ad's are different for every region, even from state to state they can be different, if this ad or any ad is upsetting you, use the Firefox browser and get the ad blocker plugin, then you won't have any ad's, personally I like seeing pictures of large breasted blond women, I may use that one for my avatar just to get a reaction out of people Twisted Evil

Also, as far as the graphic ad on that spot on the page, just hit refresh and you get a different one.

Yeah, maybe Alex can't control or has limited control about the content of the ads because of it? however, that seemed to be an ad for mature oriented material, wether it is just for chat rooms, so the idea would be to only allow ads that are family friendly, but only he knows how that works.

Did a Whois for wrong planet, and it looks to be hosted by GoDaddy.com, so the advertising would be served by that company, they do require some advertising revenue from the sites they are hosting. I haven't had a problem with the ad's because I never see them, but they are a necessary part of the internet, that is needed for companies to stay in business. But if something is offensive there are ways to circumvent seeing ad's.

I say big deal, move on. The way I am getting in I don't get the ads at all, so I personally couldn't care less.

You think that's bad? Virtually every thread I open on here has a Church of Scientology advert hanging over it. Confused

Don't worry, one day you'll be awesome enough to attract a Scientologist.

No I won't. I don't have enough money for that to happen.

erm, whois just tells you who's hosting the DNS. it has nothing to do with what's on the website. I have full control over what appears on Wrong Planet and it isn't hosted by GoDaddy. I have a dedicated server.

Ya it was hard to say if it was served because go daddy didn't show any other info, I was just curious as to where the ad's were coming from, we have different ad's here in Canada, and I never see any from down south. So it must be google ad sense, that serves them I guess. I am not sure how they work that, but it seems to find relevant ads onto websites that are subscribed to ad sense.
