I like his songs up to about 1985. My favourites are "Nobody Wins", "Madness", "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road", "The Greatest Discovery", "Sixty Years On", "Candle In The Wind" (original version), "Daniel", "I'm Still Standing", "Your Song" and "Border Song".

Funeral for a friend/Love lies bleeding and Candle in the Wind (original studio) are a toss up for me. When I was ready to graduate A School in the military and filling out my dream sheet for desired duty stations I remembered his song Daniel, and I put Spain at the top of my list. I graduated high in my class so no one took the orders that I wanted. So his song inspired me to get to go to Spain, I loved being there, it's a beautiful country. Very Happy

A f***ing genius. Listen to the whole Goodbye Yellow Brick Road album. I happen to have that on vinyl, even.

I've even seen him live, as well. Great musician. Also has plenty of great stories to tell on stage in between songs.

Yeah, I like 'his' music... remember... he collaborated on many pieces! Wink

Tiny Dancer - I always remember the movie "Aloha Bobby and Rose" because this song played in the movie.
Daniel

Texas Love Song! - because I'm from Texas and grew up in redneck country. This song would make my brother and I laugh every time...

TEXAS LOVE SONG from his "Don't Shoot Me I'm The Piano Player" album...

I heard from a friend you been messing around
With a cute little thing I been dating up town.
Well I don't know if I like that idea much.
You better stay clear I might start acting rough.

You out of town guys sure think you're real keen.
Think all of us boys here are home spun and green.
Well that's wrong my friend so get this through your head.
We're tough and we're Texan with necks good and red!

So it's Ki Yi Yippie Yi Yi
You longhairs are shore gonna die.
Our American home was clean till ya came.
And kids still respected the president's name.

And the eagle still flew in the sky.
Hearts filled with the national pride.
Then you came along with your dope-crazy songs.
Goddammit you're all gonna die.

How dare you sit there and drink all our beer.
It's made for us workers who sweat, spit and swear.
The minds of our daughters are poisoned by you.
And your Communistic politics and them Negro Blues.

Well I'm gonna quit talking and take action now.
Run all of you fairies clean out of our town.
Oh I'm, dog-tired of watching you mess up our lives.
Spending all summer time natur-illy high!

And it's Ki Yi Yippi YiYi
You long hairs are shore gonna die.
Our American home was clean till you came.
And kids still respected the president's name.

and the eagle still flew in the sky.
Hearts filled with the national pride.
Then you came along with your dope-crazy songs.
Goddammit you're all gonna die...
Goddammit, you're all gonna die...
Oh Lord, Goddammit, you're all gonna die...

Listen here...

The first album of his we ever owned was Honky Chataeu.

There's too many songs old and new that I really like, for me to list here.

I have Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, which is amazing. I think that 'Love Lies Bleeding (Funeral For A Friend)' is the greatest opening track in history.
