Did you chew or twirl your hair compulsively when you were a kid? I did.

I would twirl it and pull it, but I wouldn't chew it.

I would twirl but not chew it. When I was about 6-8 I had a mild habit of pulling individual hairs out though I never had any bald spots because of it. I still twirl it sometimes, also if I let my beard get to long I will twirl it, and I'll twirl my mustache. (I'm a guy) This tends to happen if I let myself get too idle.

Both. I also twirled my parents hair. I still do this to my own hair and my husband's (LOL). Hey! I guess it's not so freaky after all.
