This is in from Breitbart.tv http://www.breitbart.tv/html/103693.html
An Aspie kindergartner was ridiculed by teacher and his fellow classmates were asked to vote him out of the classroom.
CBS: Melissa Barton says Morningside Elementary teacher Wendy Portillo had her son's classmates say what they didn't like about 5-year-old Alex. She says the teacher then had the students vote, and voted Alex, who is being evaluated for Asperger's syndrome -- an autism spectrum disorder -- out of the class by a 14-2 margin.
I am high functioning autistic and remember receiving similar treatment when I was in kindergarten in the early '70's. People wonder why so many kids grow up to be school shooters. Well, this might be one reason - a child spending his or her lifetime being constantly picked on at school - even by so called teachers.
This is one reason why we need the Autism Education Center like the one that is going to be started in Panama City, Florida http://www.autismeducationcenter.net _________________ I am AUTISTIC - Always Unique, Totally Interesting, Straight Talking, Intelligently Conversational. |

That is an intersting web iste. I just joined but am not sure if their belief system jibes with my own..so far, it looks like it does.
I do believe that we need some accurate information about the autism spectrum. _________________ Just because one plane is flying out of formation, doesnt mean the formation is on course....R.D.Lang

There is already an active thread about this topic:

With regard to the Autism Education Center, it would make more sense to post that in its own thread. _________________ "Striking up conversations with strangers is an autistic person's version of extreme sports." Kamran Nazeer |
