May I ask what you posted that got you banned? Because nothing you've said in this forum or in any of the IM conversations we've had struck me as being even remotely offensive.

I don't know. Before I found out what offended someone, I was banned.

Have you e-mailed the moderators? It would be a good thing to know what the complaint was so that you don't make the same mistake again. Besides, often things can be rectified with clarification or apology and you could be unbanned.

A forum I moderate had to ban all input from a large college in southern California earlier this year because of intrusion hacking of our server. Of course this resulted in an unannounced disruption for our regular members from that same region, but their banning was coincidental to the problem. Once the university caught the persons responsable, we were able to unban the IP address' and return to business as usual.

No, no, no.

I'm sorry. I know, what he says goes. He must be a strict man, and I am under the impression that I should have read the rules before posting. Yes, let's take the situation in real life.

Why don't we just call him "M." Now, I could say to him, "M***, who do you think you are?" or I could just say, "M***, I realize that I was banned from the forum, and could you please tell me why? I couldn't believe it. No reason at all, and he banned me! That is a terrible shame. To clarify the situation, it's like this. It's like he banned me before I could be given a fair chance as a person. As stated before, unbelievable!

So, because what he says goes, no.

Also, are you a new member?

Yes, I am a new member, I joined over the weekend.
I introduced myself here.
I answered the questions here.
I posted a picture of myself and my partner here.
And I am pleased to meet you.

I agree, what a moderator says goes. But I encounter so many people who forget that moderators are people, people in authority, but people none the less. They can be spoken with like any other human (except, perhaps, the Queen of England). I know learning to just talk to people in authority is difficult. I have an incredibly hard time doing so myself, but it is a necessary life skill. Often the first step is to get used to talking to those people who can only have a small impact in our lives, like a forum moderator.

I always advise that new players read not only the rules/FAQ but also several threads on a new board, to get a good feel for what is considered socially acceptable in that community. Smile

Hi, I am Jason. You do sound like a very interesting person. Do you do sketches of people's brains on the computer?

Also, what happened so long ago that got you all stressed out?

About your reply to my post, I understand what you mean. There are people who don't understand what the rules of posting to forums are, and they just assume they know what they're doing before they do it in reality. It is a shame that some people encounter missed opportunities before they even have a chance to shine and show others who they really are.

Thank you for your reply to my post.

I write the programs that make the computer display brain images when someone has an MRI, CT scan, or when they inject nuclear isotopes into your brain (PET/SPECT scan) to see how all the pieces are working.

I was in the first Gulf War from 1990 - 1991, and then I was in Mogadishu, Somalia in 1993-1994 (during the time they show in Black Hawk Down). It took some counseling to get back to being myself.

I consider it their loss that they didn't give you a chance. At least you have a good place here. There are a ton of other places as Happeh said.

I ought to tease you into updating your web page.

Thank you. I've even met Mr. Eubanks in person. It was a great experience.

I can imagine. I hope he was a nice person in person.

Have you been on any shows? I would imagine they do remote's from a city the size of yours.

At the time, I lived in Albany, New York. I have since moved north of Albany. However, Seattle, Washington is my hometown, and that is why it says so on this site.

Ah, well at least my mistake was an honest one. Albany's pretty big too, but hardly a game show mecca.

Getting back on topic, I was banned from the forum I am referring to just because I posted my e-mail address, which is in a Yahoo account. There have been people who have registered with a Yahoo account before, and they weren't banned, but after a certain amount of time they banned people with Yahoo and Hotmail accounts. I was one of those people. Why that is beyond me.
