Why?
Because the English Monks were payed by the word, not by the letter. Thus, instead of the insane letter crammed French version " Pourquoi?" (they were payed by the letter)
we use why.
That, and because at some point some one made it all standard, so some people don't go around saying
" Whie?"
Well, some might. But its no longer accepted amount scholars.
The word was made because humans are intelligent creatures that tend to question their environment to further learn from it.
Its good enough for some to know that something is, but for others it is necessary to go much deeper.
Why is something? Why does a train stay on its tracks? Sure, we know it does, but WHY?
