If you didn't do as well as you expected on any of these tests, you shouldn't be concerned. There are many reasons why scores on this task might differ. For instance, differences in computer systems or distractions while doing the task can affect results. This task was not designed to assess you, and the scores can vary widely among the people who complete it.

I did the Recognizing Emotion and Gender from Faces test on the same website. I scored above average on both Shocked

You were able to discriminate 85% of the face genders. Based on the results we have so far, the average person who takes this test correctly identifies 78% of the genders.

You were able to discriminate 73% of the facial expressions. Based on the results we have so far, the average person who takes this test correctly identifies 66% of the emotions.

I think its based on this research:

Rebecca L. Hefter, Dara S. Manoach and Jason J.S. Barton, 2005. Perception of facial expression and facial identity in subjects with social developmental disorders. NEUROLOGY;65:1620-1625

They found that recognition of emotions in faces is impaired in ASDs, but recognising gender from faces remains normal. The brain wiring used to understand emotions different from that used to recognise gender.

Here is my Memory test results:

Forward Digit Span
You were able to remember sequences of digits that were 6 digits long. Based on the results we have so far, the average person who takes this test is able to remember 5 digits.

Multiple Object Memory Test
You correctly identified 17 out of 25 objects. Based on the results we have so far, the average person who takes this test is able to identify 20 out of 25 objects.

Abstract Art Memory Test
You correctly identified 20 out of 25 art images. Based on the results we have so far, the average person who takes this test is able to identify 20 out of 25 art images.

Face Memory Test
You correctly identified 8 out of 15 faces. Based on the results we have so far, the average person who takes this test is able to identify 10 out of 15 faces.

Verbal Paired Associates Test
You correctly identified 11 out of 15 word pairs. Based on the results we have so far, the average person who takes this test is able to identify 11 out of 15 word pairs.

I didn't save the results, but I was able to remember sequences of 8 digits, and on the last part I got 14 out of 15 word pairs. On the objects and faces I was above average--interestingly, the abstract art was the only section where I was below average.

On the gender and emotion recognition, I recognized 88% of the genders, but was below average on the emotions.

Forward Digit Span 7 digits (too slow, they should show the digits way faster)
Multiple Object Memory Test 25/25
Abstract Art Memory Test 25/25
Face Memory Test 11/15
Verbal Paired Associates Test first try 6/15, tried again: 9/15

I had this same problem since I have a relatively slow satellite internet connection. I got around it by paging back, clicking Proceed again, and then waiting for the entire test to load before I hit the space bar. Then it worked correctly.

You correctly identified 20 out of 25 objects. Based on the results we have so far, the average person who takes this test is able to identify 20 out of 25 objects.

You correctly identified 23 out of 25 art images. Based on the results we have so far, the average person who takes this test is able to identify 20 out of 25 art images.

You correctly identified 11 out of 15 faces. Based on the results we have so far, the average person who takes this test is able to identify 10 out of 15 faces.

You correctly identified 10 out of 15 word pairs. Based on the results we have so far, the average person who takes this test is able to identify 11 out of 15 word pairs.

On the art test I tried to give a name to each picture and that helped me remember it.

I was not able to remember any of the faces but two out of the three faces in each set looked fake to me, as though they had been modified in Photoshop. So I simply picked the most realistic looking face and got 11 with that method.

I did the same. So I didn't imagine that some faces looked really strange.
