Well I finished the game tonight on the standard difficulty. Wow, what a fantastic game. I have very few complaints to make of it. The only big problem I have with the story is the ending. The ending is great until the credits roll, then there's a second bit of ending that messes it up. I assume they did that to leave room for a sequel.

I'm going to play through again but this time I'll try to get through without alerting or killing anyone. I've gone through Act 1 so far while fulfilling these conditions. It's a lot easier once you get the hang of the controls.

i agree with you on the controls. when i first played it i was like ARRRGH THIS GAME SUCKS but after i customized them to my satisfaction and found out about the auto aim feature i was like "huh, this is pretty sweet". i confess after figuring out how to work them the controls and the amount of customization for them are REALLY good. having a 360 camera is a godsend while sneaking, especially now that the radar is a little obsolete.

FYI i just got through the second chapter and after a steep curve with the first i confess i'm having a lot of fun with the game now. chapter two let me get back to my favorite part of Metal Gear...sneaking and sniping! now we're talking! plus the Laughing Beauty segment genuinely freaked me out (i was like GAAAH GET AWAY)...while still being oddly arousing at the same time.

btw i've complained about the length of the cutscenes so far, but i must confess seeing a beautiful fully rendered cutscene beats the pants off a long boring Codec conversation like in the previous games. even the amount of detail put into what few Codec conversations there are is incredible. i can't believe it but Kojima actually listened to his fan's complaints and improved on his mistakes (so he's ahead on M. Night Shyamalan in that respect).

What's with the Beauty Photoshoots? (That's a link.) Are they an easter egg or what?

That scene just happened randomly during a B&B fight for me. It might only happen if you have the camera though. Once the time expires, she dies. Confused Weird.

I disagree about that final bit at the end. I thought it was necessary to bring definitive closure and explains the last few bits of the story. I don't really see how it leaves things open for a sequel.
There certainly can be other Metal Gear games made in the future, but Snake's role is over with.

I personally think they could make another prequel game with Big Boss or even the Boss in WWII.

Possible spoiler alert:

I mean the ending was a bit of a cop out. It leads you into thinking one thing, starts rolling the credits and then decides to backpedal so if you were emotionally affected at all by the initial ending you feel a bit cheated. Anyways, that's one minor problem I had with this very excellent game.

I still wish they had explained some things better, like how Liquid gained control of Ocelot just by having his arm grafted onto him. Mental suggestion, hmph.
