Does anyone have a problem with loud noises? I get sort of a, almost, upset reaction whenever I hear a loud noise repetitively for a while. Such as:
When I was in the shower, and they were testing the emergency system ("Testing System 1, etc."), I got that sort of reaction that almost makes me want to cry. It was repetitive.
When my brother's show is on (typically blasting loud), I get really, really stressed
When I was in the bathroom at college, some idiots kept throwing a ball at the door of the bathroom...I got the same reaction.
Just wondering if anyone gets this sort of reaction...

I have this problem. Part of the reason I'm Lutheran is because I can't stand evangelical preachers yelling and talking loudly during their sermons.

I cannot stand loud noises. Especially high-pitched loud noises. I keep a pair of earplugs in my handbag in case I am in a trapped situation with a screaming infant or other noise source.

But very small noises drive me nuts, too- I have to find the source in order to have peace. My boss is the same way- he twigged on a ticking quartz clock, which I'd twigged on and located moments before- I told him what it was, and we both ignored it. My propensity for hearing patterns in noise is really helpful when I am troubleshooting mechanical problems with my car or something- if its 'tone' falls outside the range of 'normal', I'll take it right to the mechanic. This saved my bacon one time, when the 'noise' turned out to be the tire falling apart in the heat.

I HATE loud noises. This is funny in my case because I'm half deaf, so they're not even full volume for me. But I still hate them.

Every time I watch the movie Mr. Holland's Opus, I have to fast-forward the parade scene where the fire engine horn goes off.

I have that problem. My dad's the loudest and it is so irritating that I want to scream at him.

I get the same way with cars honking and the subtle noises that make me react as though I were in a battle field. Strange thing is I can't hear well when people talk to me. I can hear them but not their diction which I think is an auditory processing disorder.

Anyway, I'm on anxiety pill which have helped a little but you're not alone.

WP is a community made up of users with autism,as and pddnos, and those with SIDs amongst others so loud noises are a big part of life here.

am have severe sensory problems, and specifically with noise/sound/hearing,docs have said its at the profound level,am waiting to have sound proofing and triple glazing put in,though managers wont do it here anymore as they are looking for a different res. placement and countryside type area, should get sister to quote the DDA at them.

get those who do the alarm testing to say when its going to go off,so can get outside before it goes off,or if can cope with it,at least having the warning might make it better.

get a pair of earplugs and eardefenders to use over the top if dont have any already.

get sound proofing put in bedroom and better windows if they are bad.

one of the worst things about this problem,is the well used belief from ignorants that they cant hear the noise so obviously, are just making it up and faking a meltdown, and are faking all that blood to....well no.......they dont control whats real and what doesnt exist.
get these idiots hearing aids for both ears, turn the volume up full and see how they like it when they're attacked with noise, maybe they should force all the ignorants who allow pointless noises to wear hearing aids all day so they can understand a little bit better one of the things that happens to many on the spectrum.

dad [aspie] is the same,he has lost a lot of his hearing through age, though still doesnt like being around a lot of different noises.

I hate loud or sudden noises. I have a cute macaw at home (a bird) and he can scream at 105db. Anything over 85db can damage your hearing. Phones also bother me. The sudden ringing makes me jump. Any loud noise bothers me and more so if it is sudden.

Sudden loud noises especially screaming or screeching; make me feel like crying and I start to get panicky and want to leave, even if I was quite happy and calm before the noise happened. Constant softer but irritating noises also make me agitated but not as quickly.

fire works are something I detest. but, usually small noises like someone chewing, someone crinkling a newspaper as they read it really get to me. i can hear very well-i hear comments people make under their breath that nobody else hears. my husband has adjusted well to me and my sound issues. he doesn't get it, but he gets that it bothers me. my son is the same way-mainly high pitch like babies crying.

Well, I'm a bit weird, cuz i kinda like loud noises, like Heavy Metal. But I hate High-pitched electric beeping.
The grocery store i go to frequently just put in something at their front door (I don't know what it is they put in, but it was NOT there before!) That keeps making this constant high-pitched beeping, and I can't stand it.

I don't know if it's supposed to be that sound that only teenagers can hear, and I'm able to gear it somehow. Cuz I know some stores have been putting that stuff in to ward off teenage hoodlums. I'm only guessing that's what it is, because my mom doesn't seem to hear it.

that would be what it is. a thing to keep the teens away.

i don't like loud noises either, most i can deal with. i just hate it when people yell or scream in my ear.

i get a bit annoyed when people turn the TV up full blast .. eg when my grandpa came to visit he turned the TV way up to watch car racing, my mum said to him "get a hearing aid you old bastard" and he did not hear her. she said it in a jokey voice.

but whenever i watch tv alone people are like....are you sure you can hear that? i can hear the TV perfectly fine and don't have it turned up as far.
