Matters of fact topic

Oops! Two errors need revising. Merle was not advised but cruelly ordered, and the Italian woman was under house arrest for 18 years, not 17. Shocked

It would appear the bygone days are still with us. Evil or Very Mad

I'd say forced, not ordered. . . from the sound of it.

I wasn't forced, they just took the child when it was in the baby nursery and told me I should be grateful. the baby was there in the nursery, then the baby wasn't. . I was discharged from the hospital and I caught the bus to go back to sleep on the couch of a guy that joined the navy so he wouldn't be drafted into Vietnam. and that, was that.

How is having your child removed expressly against your will not forced?

I don't, personally, believe force has to involve violence.

Because, Jainaday, I tell myself pretty little lies so I don't just tear out my hair and weep every day.

*hugs offering and subsequent appropriate gestures according to response*

*cries*

sorry to push. .

and also, just, sorry.

sometimes I'm bad at that.

First response almost reminds me of what they do in China.

Second response is confusing since I don't see anything about feminism involved here and even if it was, I'm pretty sure there'd be a good reason since women were the very last to vote in my country and women in working forces were paid if any less wage than even a man who was single. Also considering if the woman's husband had died would equal poverty for her and her children if you want to get into details.

That's awful! Those people should have been charged with kidnapping! I wonder just how many lives were ruined by such high-handed and utterly stupid actions by the authorities.

I might add that a few years ago some friends and I were involved on an online forum and there was a woman there who was very bitter about having been adopted. She was saying she never wanted to meet her mum and it was all her mum's fault.

We were telling her that her mum probably wasn't given a choice and she might only have been 16 or 17 at the time or otherwise could have been a mother with a large family whose husband had lost his job and they couldn't afford another child.

She didn't take any of this information on board even though we explained at length how things were back in the 1970's and previous.
