I don't know if this has occurred to anyone or not, but I've been boning up on the old series and the new movie, and it seems to me that out of all the superheroes I know, and I know a lot, Hulk represents the reality of my own social life better than any other. Sure, superheroes of all sorts are outcasts and persecuted to some degree, but only Hulk seems doomed to walk alone no matter how much progress he makes, how much good he does for people, or who befriends him. The old series storyline ended with Banner dying, stating as his last words, "I am free." So what superhero do you think represents a good allegory for an aspie social life?

This is the type of victimization that I see all too much here on this board. Has it ever occurred to you and others here who complain about not having friends that certain behaviors on your part may be affecting how people react to you? Yes you have AS, but you can't use it as an excuse either to justify your shortcomings. You have to empower yourself to improve your social skills.

Inadvertently, I think I profoundly missed something here. I like the hulk and he's green too. What's not to love? Innocent enough. 6 million dollar man is cool too.

'Type of victimization?' '...empower yourself' etc......no offense, I'm not being confrontational at all; I interpret literally (re: OP). What part did I miss? Non sequitor. How does the fact that I like the 6 million dollar man, and frankcritic likes the hulk, have to do with 'an excuse....justify your (sic: our) shortcomings?' Huh?

Data from Star Trek, although he isn't really a "super hero" like you asked.

As far as superheroes go, I'd say Spider Man gets my vote hands down.

Mmm, interesting question.

I think Peter Parker. Because He always wanted to be social and have that cool guy life....he always denied who he was inside a brilliant genius...and well even once he got his powers he was still socially awkward...he cracks lame jokes at villains because he is nervous....

Thats a big hell yes. I have friends and a huge social life and have grown so much because of it...but the only reason I have such a great life now is because I made the choice to force myself into the world. It is tough but our minds are tougher...we have the ability to be great. Don't outsmart yourself, stop thinking and just go outside....

Can we stretch outside the comic canon? For some reason, Raistlin Majere will always be the representative of the marginalized outcast in my mind. Well, I shouldn't say "for some reason" - I imbibed those books during the impressionable and formative years of eight and onward and their continued status as sentimental favourites should come as no surprise. Elric would definitely be another (and a character who Weis and Hickman no doubt had in mind when they created their gold hued anti-hero).
