On this and other forums, I figure that I "submit" approximately 1 response out of every 4-5 responses that I actually write. I will read a thread, spend a lot of time carefully drafting a response and then usually talk myself out of hitting the "submit" button.
Just wondering if I am the only one. |

| Nope, you're not the only one. I do the same. I've been known to spend about an hour typing a reply, only to delete it all and close the thread, not submitting anything. It's like getting stage fright right at the last minute. It can be annoying. |

Nope. You're not alone on that one. I have from long long experience learned that I suffer from "foot-in-mouth" disease, and I'll start to type something and re-read it and think "nope that sounds idiotic". I'll also sit and type a really long response to something and go back and take about half of it out so I don't ramble. I wish there was a way to do this in real life conversations! _________________ There are only 10 types of people in this world: those who understand binary and those who don't. |

I often think of a potential response to a thread or post, but don't even make it any further than that. Depends on result of argument in my head about whether I do or don't want to make comment, so clicking on "post reply" button happens maybe half the time.
Point at which I make the decision, pretty much, is when I either hit "back" on my browser to return to list of new posts, or hit "make a comment" instead.
Once I've bothered to do that (getting the blank box onscreen) I almost always (99% of the time) post something. I do take long time to decide what to write-adding & removing a lot of what I'm considering posting. After having spent an hour trying to decide (what to omit & what to include), I do submit comment-have invested too much time & mental energy not to.
Haven't deleted posts except in rare case of inadvertent double-postings. _________________ *"You cannot administer a wicked law impartially-it destroys everyone it touches, its violators as well as its upholders."* |

| I hate to say it, but I probably post 8 out of 10 I write. I may regret like 5% of the ones I post. I AM better though. SOMETIMES my ratio is a 25% post rate with NO regrets! |

I do that too. Sometimes I read it back to myself and feel like my tone needs an attitude adjustment so ultimately I don't post. Sometimes I just need to get it out of my system and then I am good.
Couldn't tell you my ratio though, probably similar to your own. _________________ Those who don't hear the music, think the dancer quite mad.

I think my thread starting and reply-post ratio is about 200:1
I think I've started about 6 threads in all the time I've been here. Most of my posts are replies. _________________ Terminal Outsider, rogue graphic designer & lunatic fringe. |

I am the opposite...I have no edit button and don't really care much what others think. I write because I need to say something...internally compelled. Just try and shut me up. When it comes to verbal communication...I am the opposite, I still say things I later regret but I am more likely to chose to be mute then say everything that comes to mind. _________________ Just because one plane is flying out of formation, doesnt mean the formation is on course....R.D.Lang

not me. I post most of what I type here. I feel okay here and on most other sites. Rarely censor myself. _________________ I am a Star Wars Fan, Warsie here.
