At work I have to push the cart around when I am picking up dirty linen, dirty coffee cups and glasses and newspapers. But I try not to bump into anything but I keep on doing it. I am pushing my cart and bam I bump into the door or I dump into a wall. I also sometimes bump into one of the housekeeping carts and I thought I had moved the cart far enough to the side so I can push it by. I am thinking it has to do with timing and all with movement (depth perception perhaps) and I do pretty good but I bump into things often enough at work. I do it everyday is why.

But here is another problem I have and everyone acts like it's my fault and i have control over other peoples moves. I am pushing my cart and people are out of my way. But then some of them get in my way as I am going by and I accidentally hit them with my cart. I can remember the time I am pushing the cart into the housekeeping office to unload the dirty cups. There is a room attendant standing next to the desk the office clerk sits at. Just as I push the cart through the door, the room attendant turns her body and bam my cart bumps into her. She was out of my way when I started pushing my cart in and then she got in the way as I was doing it. The assistant manager of housekeeping tells me I need to slow down and watch for people.
And yesterday at work, I am on the elevator to go back up to my floors again and I realize I forgot to dump the newspapers in the recycle bin so I say "Excuse me, getting off." Bam one of the room attendants gets in my way as I am pulling the cart off the elevator. All the room attendants start yelling at me and saying I need to be careful.

Everyone acts like I am psychic and I can predict peoples moves. How can I possible tell when the room attendants are going to get in my way. Why don't they just watch where I am going and stay out of my way when I am pushing or pulling the cart so there won't be any accidents.

It seems like this only happens to me, not to the other people at work who works the same position I work in. I have not seen other co workers bumping their carts into other people, into walls, etc. so it must be me. Also the fact they make a big deal out of my accidents. Is this AS related or what because I am thinking this has to do with clumsiness.

My mother told me I used to bump into people and walls and other stuff as a kid before I was given occupational therapy. I know that is AS related because of clumsiness. Now it's come back because I have a cart now but this only happens at work when I have a cart.

I am also clumsey, thats kind of a charm I play, but never mind that, have you tried making your actions known so they know to get out of your way, otherwise you have to try to read there face, and other movments.

I had to push a trolley of files sometimes at my last job. I remember what a mission it was sometimes, getting in the elevator especially!! I hate doing stuff like that...

I never bumped into anyone with the trolley, but if I am made to carry something big I always manage to dent a wall, or scratch a door with it...

Look up proprioceptive dysfunction sometime and compare the signs between what it describes and what happens to you.
