I put up a personal ad on Yahoo about a year ago, I slowly forgot about until a girl actually checked it out. I sent her an icebreaker and she responded back. She even lives locally and shares some of my interests. The problem is, in order to keep this up I have to pay. Thing is, is that I don't have a credit card. The only way for me to continue is to ask my dad to use his credit card, I hate doing this and its not like I don't have money.

what should I do?

Couldn't you just get her REAL contact info before your membership expires, and then take it from there?

PS. Sorry if that wouldn't work.. I'm not familiar with Yahoo personals at all. Embarassed

Can't do that, I only have an ad, not membership.

My friend says I shouldn't waste money on this, but look at this way, you have to spend money to be in a relationship anyway right Very Happy

Well, even if you don't have a credit card, sometimes those prepaid Visa giftcards (or the ones you can get online at Simon.com) work even for online purchases. The people on the other end can't tell whether or not it's a real credit card so it's just as good to them. It would probably beat having to ask your dad to use his card anyway. Laughing

Yeah, you probably wouldn't be able to get one of those virtual gift cards like Simon.com since you need a credit card to buy one anyway.. so your best bet would be to go to Walgreens or 7-Eleven or any number of other places that carry these gift cards. The giftcard must have the Visa or Mastercard logo for you to be able to use it. Best ones I use for online purchases are the "Vanilla Visa" cards, and also the gift2go.net cards (which ususally have the yellow package with balloons on the front. Just make sure you buy a card with a high enough value to cover the payments you need to make.

Once you buy the card, it will come with all the info you will need to enter for the "credit card" when you make a purchase online. It should work, and even in the worst case scenario that the website doesn't accept your payment you can still just use the card to buy stuff that you needed otherwise. Wink

If you are in touch with a real person why don't you just exchange contact information, at least some kind of throwaway E-mail accounts? I don't know what the rules are but if you have to pay to keep in contact with someone, it's like phone sex without the sex.

Send her a series of icebreakers, and encode your real message and contact details into the times the messages are sent. If she can't decode the timestamps on the hundred or so identical messages you'll send, she probably wasn't the one anyway.
