This sounds stupid but there's a lot I want to ask or know about in the adult forum but they're mostly female topics regarding adult like issues. I don't have a problem with sharing with guys but I've had issues with some of this in the past. I also don't find very many females in there and wonder why that is.
I'm not saying that the adult forum is bad but I feel like some of the topics I've posted in the past were either joked at or not taken seriously. It's basically the same stuff men talk about only different. I thought about posting them here but this not the Adult Forum for sure. So......I don't know.
It's not a big issue, it's just that some of my topics would seem out of character with most of the topics in the Adult Forum even though the most of them are basically about you know what.
I'm wondering if there's another place I could go for questions that're handled in a more serious matter because I get embarassed sometimes espeacially with the all too graphical sarcasms....
Does anyone else sort of have this problem or relate at all?
(Men are included in this issue too)
Don't get me wrong, I find some of the issues in there funny as well but just feel like it's hard to post a topic that's a little more serious. _________________ Oh you can't help that. We're all mad here.

Yes I feel the same way. I think the women here have just given up on posting female issues. Its really uncomfortable to have guys chiming in turning serious questions concerning female bodily issues into jokes or amusement. I guess the only thing to do is find friends among the females here and for really personal issues just discuss it privately through PMs. _________________ I'm sweet on the outside and rotten within... |

Ask the coders to MAKE all new people have to add their sex and fix it so it cant be changed,
and have those whom have already added their sex be stuck with what they have it as
(this way its the most honest because of the unexpected).
then fix it so only females can enter the womens only forum,
eventually the females will take over that part of the forum and more will post there.
and the men can have a like sections them selves as well.
this is not a matter of sexual preferences, but the actual sex of the poster. |

I disagree about not letting men view and discuss women's issues. It's important to us, too because they're important to us. I guess frivolous responses are the risk one can't avoid when discussing things in a public forum. _________________ You should get to know me better. No one's ever what they seem.-- Shirley Manson |

I do think it is a good idea to have gender listed under the member's name, number of posts, etc. Too many women and men both have avatar pics that either mislead one to think they are the opposite gender, or are so gender neutral as to be anyone's guess. Sure you can click their name or pic to view it on their profile, but (a)the view profile page on WP is agonizingly slow at times and (b)it becomes a real pain if a topic has 20 pages of posts in it. A few may feel it is nobody's business and shouldn't matter what their gender is, only their opinion... fine then, don't list your gender and it can show "withheld" instead of male or female. However, banning men from the women's forum and men from the women's forum isn't the best idea. I suppose flagging a topic as men-only or women-only might be an option if it is truly something you only want your own sex to read. But, I think it would be quite generalizing to say all men and only men make light of serious women's issues. I know you didn't say that exactly so I don't want to put words in your mouth. But to specifically address the problem you are having, wouldn't it be best to be able to flag a topic as serious replies only, and then be given the ability to delete any posts that deviate from that? And perhaps add the poster to a banned list that can never again reply to another topic you've flagged as serious? _________________ Reasonable people adapt themselves to the world. | If you want a women's only, private, I don't know if this software can do it or not, but somehow the topic needs to not pop up on the list of recently added topics. I think that more than one of us doesn't always look to see what area it is when a provocative title pops up. I won't troll and I won't usually post on "women's discussion" for more than one reason. If I don't see a topic when I come in I won't usually know that it even exists. |

Where did I say I wanted a Women's Only and that men should be excluded?
I just wish there were some females in the forum that knew what I was talking about or guys. Maybe it's an AS trait I don't know. I'm not generalizing men. I find it funny that that there's a bunch of generalizng in many forums of women esp the Love and Dating forum but you guys think I'm being sexist in this forum. That's why I included men in on this topic. Maybe it wasn't a good idea to bring it up since I don't know exactly how to word it in a way that doesn't sound soooo sexist toward men. _________________ Oh you can't help that. We're all mad here.

I think I know what you are trying to say MissConstrue and I agree with you (even though I don't go to the Adult forum myself).
You feel as if your topics aren't taken seriously in the Adult forum despite similar topics started by men being taken seriously, you wish there were more women in the Adult forum and you would like men to stop making sexist/unhelpful comments about females. Am I right? _________________ Controversy begins only where acceptance ends. |

In my opinion the adult forum is a joke and it attracts perverts.
If you want questions answered in a female only environment, you can join my female aspie myspace group found at:
http://groups.myspace.com/femaleaspies
If any males want to hurl abuse at me, feel free to do so at: www.myspace.com/zeldarules or PM me on here.
You need a myspace account though, but I am the gatekeeper of that group and I do not let in ANY males. I've gotten insults in the past saying that i'm sexist, but tbh I don't care. Its for female aspies.
Joining my group will ensure you get no males making smart arse replies, but I cannot stop males from looking in there. If you want to be anonymous I suggest making an anonymous mysapce accuont and PMing me your myspace URL over PM here. |

I think the main problem with getting more female aspies in the womens forum is just that there are less of us than the guys. Studies *pfft* show there are more males on the specturm by something like the order of 4:1.
I just think that means more guys get recognised.
But whatever the reason, you're gonna find more guys than girls, sadly. I like hale bopp's idea of it being completely female only, since if I'm discussing a problem with my *whoo-hoo* I'm not sure I want every guy to know that! _________________ The two loudest sounds in the world are a click when you should hear a bang, and a bang when you should hear a click.

^I think might have a point. There does tend be more guys on this site than females. Not that it's bad but I kind of feel like I'm mostly in a guy's world... _________________ Oh you can't help that. We're all mad here.

Well maybe if you ask the mod's and see if something can be arranged that will make it more serious maybe have a mod drop by a thread and see that it's not flamed or spammed. I wouldn't mind serious convos but I tend to goof off alot but if you say your serious in the OP I don't think everyone will spam, maybe the mods can arrange something for more serious talks. That or pm people and start like a pm club where everyone gets a certain topic and then they all discuss it with the person who brought it up, and the other members that they choose to discuss it with, I like that idea the most it's just difficult to get arranged. _________________ Box |

it's not you, it's just after 30 years of feminism, we've been conditioned to think of 'women's discussion' as being 'guys, keep out'. The problem (as already mentioned), is that they put all the posts for this in the most recent column on the home page. I'll read it, reply, and then "oh @#$! it was for the women's discussion!" I try to look nowadays, and not post if it's from that group. That and the Haven are the only 2 places I try to skip.
Being the only male in my house (wife, daughter, granddaughter) I know far more about female issues than I care to... but I don't want to pry. |
