I have a memorial dvd comprising photos of my late uncle. I wish to rip it to a web friendly format. how can I convert it? the mainfile is content.plv and a folder called video_ts
I suspect he had aspergers and wish to share it with everyone. _________________ davidred writes...

I don't think I'm sure of what you mean by rip to web friendly?
Do you mean, you'd like to get the photos out of the video and put them on a webpage? Or would you like to actually convert the video file and put that up?
What files are in the video_ts directory?
It sounds like you just want to get images and put them up, is that correct?
Sorry for all the questions ...just trying to understand the situation... |

I appreciate your reply and questions. My cousin, who is likely not very technical, made a dvd video comprised of still images.. a slide show. Its pictures of my dead uncle's life which were shown during his memorial.
Since He was (to my suspicions) an aspie or HFA, I wish to share them with everyone here. I'd like to change the format to something that can be shared out(wont need a dvd player). Its really not that large. so by web friendly i mean possibly just a flv for youtube, or a quicktime movie.
the folder video_ts contain the files
video_ts.bup
video_ts.ifo
video_ts.vob
vts_01_0.bup
vts_01_0.ifo
vts_01_0.vob
vts_01_1.vob
So yes, extract images would be best probably. or straight to flv, though i can do that with the extracted images too.
Thanks for looking into this for me. _________________ davidred writes...

Ok, so it's just a run of the mill video DVD...
What I suggest is this (if you want to keep the slideshow format):
1. Convert the DVD video to something like xvid (using something like DVDx)
How to convert the DVD video to another format using DVDx - For the settings, make sure that they are the optimum for whatever site you will be uploading to... I believe YouTube prefers MPEG4 at 640x480 with 64k mono MP3 audio.
2. Upload the video to a streaming site (like YouTube or metacafe)
How to upload a video to YouTube - Brief tutorial on how to upload your video to YouTube.
3. Embed the video wherever you want. Voila!
Video linking and embedding with YouTube - How to link or embed a YouTube video. If you are just posting it on WP, you can use option 1 (video URL) with the YouTube button on the reply page.
Hopefully that was helpful! I do have to apologize for the Windows utility, it just seemed like the most straightforward thing to tell you to try. At any rate, good luck, and let me know if you have any more questions =) |
