and what do I do with it?

All I can find about them is that they're CD "images". WTF is an image on a CD? I take it it's something like a labeling thing where you can etch your own image on the CD like Lightscribe. That's not what I was after. I downloaded a tutor program (legally) and it's in ISO format.

An ISO is an image of a CD like you said.
It is used to burn a real CD.
(If you have the ISO and a CD burner, you can "burn the ICO to the CD"...should be an option)

It has nothing to do with Lightscribe or the "image" on the CD itself.

It's a DVD image then. If you're familiar with zip files, think of it as a zip on steroids. It transfers the contents sector by sector, track by track, from the file to the blank DVD. When it's done, you should have a functional (well, whatever the function intended was) DVD.

Yea, it's basically like... taking a picture of a person. The person is there in the picture, but you caint talk to them or anything. But say you had a programme that makes pictures come to life. Then you could do whatever with them. It's the same thing with an ISO. It takes every bit of data on the CD and tranfers it to the computer. Then, you just take blank media, put it in your drive, and tell it to burn an ISO. Nero does this quite well.

In your case, you need a DVD.

Another thing you ought try is Alcohol 120%. It makes a 'fake' drive on your computer and is able to run that ISO image like it's already been burnt to a disk. Save time and disks.

Hey,

Microsoft actually has a program you can use for the same purpose - although it's unsupported. I can't remember the exact name, but it allows you to mount a CD image to a drive letter, same as Alcohol.

also you can use daemon tools to make it a virtual cd, so it works like a cd, but no cd, (yes this works with all iso's from floppy to blueray)
