Basically I'm 17 and have been diagnosed with AS, ADD, Dyslexia and Dysgrafia (sp?)
And I don't understand, does it mean I think differently to people who don't have AS?
And does it mean I like different things or people or I dunno,
But yeah can someone please explain everything? I'm just so confused! :(

It means that your brain is wired differently than NT's. In many cases, it seems like our social brain cells went over to the IQ and logic side of the brain for a wild party and never made it back.

I have dyslexia, AS, but not ADD and used to have dysgraphia, but I solved the problem by printing everything or using the computer. I still get fussed at because nobody can read my signature.

n4mwd, EXCELLENT description of the difference between an AS brain and an NT brain.

SuperJambo, I have two boys with AS, and one NT girl. They are all great, enjoyable children, and you should know that the NT girl is OFTEN very frustrated that she doesn't think the same way the boys do. To her, it's a benefit to think their way. I think that she often feels half in the NT world, and half in the AS world, and comfortable with neither. My oldest boy is just fine, in college, engaged, etc. My youngest boy is 12, and struggles a little more, but is doing well.

You may be MORE interested in certain things than an NT person. NT's seem to be able to be interested in many different things, and can change their interests often. AS people tend to have fewer special interests, and those interest are heightened to a level not experienced with NT's. This can be difficult sometimes, when one needs to leave the special interest to do tasks that are more mundane but need to be accomplished (school), but this ability to focus on a special interest can also be a great advantage when it comes to working hard enough on something to excel at it.

I hope that this helps a little.

Your socially awkward and more logically focused than NTs.

Don't be afraid of over expressing yourself when you feel good and don't focus so much on when you screw up.
