It's 9PM and I still have my shoes and clothes on. (as in no PJ's) My parents bickered at me that I'm like a 16 year old child! (I'm 22) I was curious if other Aspies do this. Smile

I'm perverse by nature, as in doing the opposite of what people want from me. Except at work, don't want to get in trouble.

You are not stupid!!!!!

Any one that can see the folly in being called stupid, is self aware enough not to be stupid.

BTW, I'm not wearing pants.

If you check my previous posts, you'll see it's my leit motif!

I think I often do the opposite of what people want. I wondered if that's what 'oppositional defiant disorder' is. Everything THEY think is wrong anyway.

Well sometimes I get the subject and not the direction so I do the opposite of what they asked, sometimes I do the opposite just to show they are not in charge.

As a child I would ask my mother a question - what colour something on the page should be, for example - then would colour whatever shade or hue I had originally imagined no matter her response. I know now that this exasperated her to no end, but often I just wanted a sounding board, to see if there was a hole in what I was thinking... not so much for their actual opinion.

I used to be more reactionary as a kid because people are always trying to change you and you have to pull back or they will drag you into something before you have time to consider the options. It's not that I don't want to do it, it is that I want time to decide. Sometimes I do need to be pushed though, But I usually do it to myself....leaps of faith because thinking about all the options hurts my brain after a while. Still, I do have a tendency to react against people making me do something and I can't seem to "join" any groups because of this tendency of not liking to be controlled in anyway and being suspicious of people ordering me around....yeah, work can be real fun Crying or Very sad

I do what I want. Sometimes that means I do what others want me to do, because I want the same. Sometimes it means I'll do the opposite, because I want to do that.

Somehow, that makes people fall into too camps:

Camp A is saying I have no free will and always do what others want me to.

Camp B says I'll always do the opposite of what is asked of me.

I say they just don't get that I don't communicate to them, so they never know why I do the things I do and that I just stay true to myself.

I don't say "I wanted to do that too" or "I'll do it like this". I don't understand why I should? I also can't remember to do that. The idea is totally alien to me.
