I am curious to know if anyone else has had this reaction to babies. I always laugh when I see a baby. I laugh because it makes me happy to see a baby and babies are very cute. I have always thought that baby feet are really cute. Babies are very soothing to look at. I guess this is weird, but I have always had this reaction to babies. How do you react to babies?

Baby love topic

I love any babies, of what ever species. They look so cute and seem to need me. there was a "Too cute thread" here not long ago and it was full of pictures of infant bunnies, babies, snakes, kittens, puppies, etc. Too cute for words. Very Happy I laugh and feel happy.

Cute topic, autisticstar.

I often look at them...and they look back at me and wave or point or respond somehow.

I really like babies of all species also, I will always point them out, smile, pull faces. They seem attracted to me as well oddly enough.

I talk to babies when I see someone has one. When I see a one or two year old crying inconsolably I go up and talk to them while their mom or dad is holding them or they are sitting in the front seat of the buggy at the store.

I notice when someone they don't know talks to them they often stop crying and look surprised and confused. Sometimes, though, they know the reason you are talking to them is to get them to stop crying and they cry even louder.

When I see a baby I have the 'awwww' factor. I love picking them up and making funny faces for them to laugh at.

However they do grow up into the terrible twos, and I am not fond of that, but while I don't have any issues with kids, I don't want to have any anyway because there is much I want to do in life, and having kids will just slow me down.

Baby humans no, baby animals yes. I actually prefer the terrible twos becaus they are more like puppies and I can relate to their kind of play better. When they start talking and being more human then animal then it jst depends on how brain washed the kid is if I can relate to them of if they are just as odd as most humans.

I used to be uncomfortable around babies. Then I studied developmental psychology and learned something about how their minds worked. Now I'm ok, though I may get a little aggressive about wanting to read their palms or test their progress on object permanence tasks. Razz

They are cute, once you're not afraid of them anymore.

I've always been drawn to puppies and kittens.

Depends on the baby. I don't seem to "get" human babies. The other women in my office run over or coo and babble at the babies who are brought into the waiting room, or wanted to hold the bosses newborn twins, but I just can't see the appeal of them (with the twins, I was the only one that left the room as soon as I could when they were brought in, before anyone offered to let me hold one. I made them both little knitted jackets as a gift, and bought them presents for the baby shower, but I just couldn't will myself to hold them). It might also be that their unintentionally piercing screeches drill a hole through my head, could be what makes me nervous about being around them. Sigh, it makes me feel like a horrid person sometimes, though. After all, its "expected" of a female to go gooey over babies, and I just don't. Crying or Very sad

A baby critter, a kitten or a puppy, etc., just makes me go all gooey, though, which again makes me think about the noise factor.

Delurking.

Babies are fine until they start to cry, and yes, it is a sound sensitivity thing. If a kid cries in a restaurant, it will make me flinch and cringe momentarily because the sound is so unbearable. If its constant, my mood deteriorates. Fast.

Of course, high pitched laughter does this too, and kids voices (along with some adult women with voices higher in the range) are somewhat irritating, too.

I've avoided taking classes with certain professors, just because I know their voice would be unpleasant for me. If they're the only ones teaching, I'll bear it, but if there's an alternative, even if the alternative doesn't have a good reputation behavior-wise, I'll choose the one with the tolerable voice.

Babies always seem to stare at me, like literally dead stare like crazy and smile at me, somebody once told me they saw the child within. I think babies are adorable, but have a very hard time holding babies and interacting with them.

No love for babies. Total aversion. I don't want to see, hear or touch babies.
The noise issue is easy - I hate the sounds they make. I cannot stand the crying baby sound.
The visual aspect is harder for me to understand. I don't know why but I look away. Maybe it's because I despise the concept of "cute" (unless it's cats) and how heavily advertisers lean on it to sell things to NTs.
I'm the same way with dogs. Dogs and babies both give off objectionable smells, sounds, and substances, and may engage in unpredictable and violent movements at any time. A big confluence of turnoffs.
No offense, but I will never touch or hold your baby no matter how much you love him/her/it.

I don't usually get an emotional reaction out of looking at a baby, human or otherwise.

However, I find them fascinating. Their movements, their expressions, etc. I love how everyday they learn something new, or whenever I see them they've changed somehow.

I am intrigued by the development of babies; not the babies themselves.

Like all right minded people, I always have a strong urge to hurl them skywards like some bediapered shotput. I figure that by 2030, with overpopulation what it is, cultural changes will morph our perceptions of morality into a more reasonable form and thus give the green light for this to become an official olympic sport! Pioneered by yours truly. Cool
