My mom thinks I should because of my social issues. So I was curious if any other people on WP have done the same. |

| Got my master's that way. On one hand they're great because you get to review what you want to say before you post, and that way you can avoid misunderstandings. On the other hand, it's good to have face-to-face practice. How about a mixture of both? |

| I took all online that I could get. Labs were required to be in person though. Still, it limited my interaction with the others. The only thing is that its harder online because the in-person classes give you extra stuff and the online teachers are slow to respond to emails. My rule is to give them 24 hrs to respond, then call. |

Why do you not believe in buses? _________________ I am neurotypical - I just want to find out more about Asperger's Syndrome.
But Master! Does not the fire need water too? Does not the mountain need the storm? Does not your scrotum need kicking?

| Well it'd be cool if it was buisness men or high up people but a couple years ago when I did it it was looked like teen drop outs, drugies and homeless. I don't want to be associated with those people. In that experience I walked around downtown and felt so alone I cried in a bathroom I don't trust the world doing that is what gets YOU KILLED! (Oh I'll walk down this road it's safe then you get snatched and murdered!) |

I study a mix of on campus and external units. I don't really have a problem with on campus because I don't talk to anybody any way (or seek to.)
If you can commit yourself to doing the work, external works quite well. Some things can help with teacher interaction. But if you join an online forum of people interested in your topic you can pose questions their to help you through as well as contacting tutors or co-coordinators etc... |

I have taken a few, and was not particularly pleased with them because of the design of the courses. They required that we have "active participation" in a discussion on an online message board, and, quite frankly, there were quite a few idiots in the classes (these were history and social sciences classes) who were not capable of producing either a logical argument or defending one. Several were functionally illiterate and had the reading comprehension abilities of a snail. It really dragged down the quality of the class. The other aspects of the courses - the reading, audio/visual, and open-ended essay requirements - were just fine. I did like the fact that I could do the work whenever it took my fancy (that is, if I was up at midnight and wanted to log in and get ahead, I could do so, rather than being bound to a specific daily schedule). I was able to work well ahead and, thus, free up my time for other things and still get credit for the courses. I would recommend them for basic introductory courses. Once you get into the post-bac level, though, I think you'll want the direct give-and-take that you would get in small seminar classes. _________________ Novinson's Revolutionary Discovery: When comes the revolution, things will be different - not better, just different. |
