Heh, in my late teenaged years I wondered occasionally about this. I have stereotypical "guy" interests: cars, rock n roll, blowing crud up action movies, looking at pretty women, etc  Yet I have "typical" female traits as well: good bs detector, slight kvetching, baking/cleaning/stay-at-home and take care of the house kind of thing. I'm comfortable in my own body, yet I'm most happy around my guy friends. I've gotten used to being atypical in so many areas of my life, what's one more right?
My bro has the opposite problem, he's a girl trapped in a man's body. Too bad we can't switch! But we're both happy with what cards were dealt to us, and happy to break gender roles/expectations.

Kind of, I have never been comfortable with gender roles but apparently this is an aspergan trait. I am heterosexual and I get on better with men than women (men tend to be honest and straightforward, women will be your best friend then go behind your back and try and steal your boyfriend - gross generalisations there of course!) and have always had close relationships with lesbians and gay men - the gender roles there tend to be a little more blurred.
So my answer is this - I actually feel like a gay man trapped in a woman's body - it's as though I can understand what it feels like to be caught in the middle. I also like makeup and fashion but when I get gussied up I feel like a child playing dress-ups. Maybe I'm just a drag queen in woman's body? Yes, I think that's it - a drag queen!

I have sometimes said to myself that it's like I have a gay male brain in a female body, but that's not because of some transgender issue - it's because female stereotypes do not extend to someone like me like they should. Female stereotypes are far too limited.
I should add that at some point I noticed that men (and other women) never think of me as really being male - they always see me as female. And if I really were male underneath, people would pick up on that. So it's just that stereotypes are inadequate, and I have to borrow from the guys.
Actually, it's also a status thing. I don't like how low status females are in real life, so I avoid it this way. It frightens me how powerless women are in life. |

I have had people say this about me occasionally. I fit more into the gay male stereotype than I do any female stereotype. Which makes things interesting as it's like you said "not a transgender issue".
Also, there are only three types of women (according to a lot of guys): a mother, a saint, or a whore. Those are the stereotypes we have to play around with, and I don't care for anyone of those. And most guys that I've been around think their gfs have to fit into the latter two categories.

Yes, yes, yes. I dress totally asexually, in big baggy loose cotton leggings/trousers/shirts, and men's sandals/"plain" boots etc, and short hair, no jewellery or bras, which as I have a woman's body feels quite feminine enough.
And wrongplanet is the only place that I have come across other people who feel the same. There was another thread a while back, ( or two  ), about this aswell. And several other people said this too.
I tried a butchfemmetrans site for a while a year ago thinking that maybe they'd understand this feeling, but .. no. So glad wp exists because otherwise would still be thinking I was only person in world who feels like this.

I have occasionally felt like I was a gay man in a womans body, but that doesn't always fit. Emotionally, I usually feel like a woman, but at the same time I am repelled by things that are overtly feminine, such as dresses or make up or jewelry. My favorite people to hang out with are usually guys that have a strong feminine side or girls who are tomboys.
Overall I suppose I am neither masculine nor feminine, but an awkward in-between. |

| I've been told that I think like a man and my interests are more likely to be "male" interests than "female" interests; it's an effort to be feminine. Yet I don't feel that I am "trapped" in the wrong body. Genderless would be more like it. |

Have you not tried crying in order to get one or more men to beat up another man? Women have power - the only people who have ever suggested otherwise are women who want more of it, usually by taking power away from men. I'm sorry, I'm confused. Which men am I supposed to get to beat the others up? When I was a kid, they were all bad guys (or useless guys). My dad rented me out to his friends, and nobody seemed to have a problem with that (except me, of course). Where do I find guys who get angry and protect me? Crying never did me any good. Even crying to the police didn't do me any good.
If I had money and could cry to a lawyer (who was being paid to listen), then that might be different. But I don't have any money. No money, no power. That's the way it is. |
