Grin and bear it.
Just put up with it.
God, you're such a baby. Will you just grow up already?
How many times have you been told just to "suck it up and get over it"?
You're such a wimp.
If you're like me, that number is somewhere in the vicinity of infinity plus one.
So here's my question:
What kinds of things do you just "suck it up for" already on a daily basis that they don't seem to give a damn about?
One of my number one things for this question is the leftover memories that I'll always be stuck with regarding the torture I went through at the hands of my peers for 12 years in public school.
After you answer a few, I'll add some more to that list. _________________ "I am to misbehave" - Mal

Stop being such a sissy. All the time, I was always the prissy sissy princess.
Family, teachers, friends. I never once listened to it though.
Can't suck up injustice and ridicule about anybody and certainly won't torture myself, makes no sense to torture myself, thank you very much oh yes.
That's my attitude/my answer to it all the time. _________________ The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it. Terry Pratchett |

I was the only one at work that had to take public transit there.. I was never paid enough to buy a car and my hours were too wonky to get another job.
I was scheduled until 10 at night on a saturday(takes extra time to get home because it's a weekend), and scheduled to open that sunday(takes even longer to get there) at 10 am.
I told my manager how hard it would be for me, that it would be an hour and a half getting home and at least 2 hours getting back. This, with getting ready, would leave me little time for sleep.
"Well, it sucks, but you know, we've all dealt with it, you'll be fine."
No, actually, NONE of you have dealt with it. You could have just switched one shift for me and I would have been just fine. But no.
There are sooooo many other things, but that's the most recent. I wanted to cry! |

| Hmm, usually it's me telling people to suck it up. I have no patience for emotions, tantrums and wimpiness. |

This really doesn't happen to me anymore...simply because I'm always quiet and I try hard not to express this part of me so no one even has a chance to do this.
But people have told me when I was younger to "let things roll off my back".
This set me off to be a "quiet kid".
So now I tend to have emotional outbursts when I'm alone, but that's about it...
People on this forum even told me to grow up.... I won't name names, but they really should have not done that... |

I understand the tantrums and wimpiness part. If someone keeps being a martyr constantly, then yes...it can get annoying...but if someone is truly hurting...then I would be nice to that person...
Not that you're not a nice person...I'm sure you are a nice person ...I'm just trying to understand where you're coming from. |

IMO, the phrase "suck it up whimp"/"you're such a whimp" is name calling. Yes, sometimes we all get a little carried away, but really.. Regardless of the situation, name calling is wrong.
It makes me feel bad/rejected sometimes to want to talk to my relative about how I feel about them, be it good or bad it doesn't matter. They don't really want to disguss how I feel about a number of matters. When I try to talk sometimes, I get "Are you rehearsing again?" , "Not now, I'm tired.", "Look, we all have bad days, deal with it." Such listeners they are...not _________________ Removing objects and material out of our mental perspective leaves only the thought of our souls.

Well, *I* have been there, and I have EVEN been in YOUR position with others telling me everyone else manages, etc... That when THEY don't work as long, or know as much and are closer, etc... I EVEN went to one job, only a couple years ago, where it took up to over 2 hours to get there and up to over 2 hours to get back!(I was PAST the end of the metro line, so I had to take a bus to/from the metro, and the metro to/from work!) That is over HALF the day GONE!
BTW I have also worked 5PM to 1AM for almost a year on a job(ALONE, and in a HIGH CRIME AREA) after working 8AM to 5PM. Talk about being taken advantage of. Sometimes I could slit my throat when remembering the garbage I tolerated.
I seriously wonder how they could believe that they can even BEGIN to understand, and I feel insulted because it belittles my efforts to comply. |

| The one I got was "you have to just put up with it" to which I always thought "sez who?" but it was useless to argue since it would only end up in tears. These days if anybody says that to me, I just say "no I don't" and walk away. |
