I've claimed that I wanted to kill myself more than one time over the past few years. I wouldn't say this to a friend or relative, of course, as I wouldn't want to freak them out or have them call the cops on me; I only say it to random people on the internet, and just to get attention. If someone accuses me of being depressed, on the basis that I said that I wanted to kill myself, I'll remind them how stupid they are for assuming that the fact that I want to kill myself means that I am depressed since, while suicidal ideations are often a symptom of depression, not all people who want to kill themselves are depressed. And I play this game just for the sake of getting attention, and the more someone tells me that I shouldn't kill myself the merrier. That's just the way I am.

Would you say that I am wicked?

Yes, you are wicked. I am a nurse that worked for a short while in a nut house. There were several kids in there that got themselves Baker Acted for saying such things. Your IP address CAN be traced if the law wants to bad enough. So its not a good idea to do it online either. You may get a 3 day vacation with other kids that hear voices and make funny noises.

An interesting side note is that people who are severely depressed rarely commit suicide. They don't have the strength for it.

Why do you want attention anyway?

Sounds a little strange to me.

Attention temporarily eases my anxiety. I don't understand the inner workings of this process, but I've found, from experience, that dimished anxiety is often the end result.

wow! so that is how nurses that work in behavioral health think about their places of business!
Thank you for letting us know that our professionals use demeaning references when they work with other children that hear voices and make funny noises.

I am appalled!

Have you tried exercise or drugs?

What are you anxious about?

I'm sure you have your reasons to refer to mental hospitals as nut houses, but let me ask you something: how did the kids who got themselves institutionalized, the ones who said that they wanted to kill themselves just to get attention, not the ones who said that they wanted to kill themselves because they were actually suicidal, go about proving their "innocence"?

I have contemplated the option of doing exercise. I did drugs briefly but the withdrawal symptoms were so severe that I stopped doing them altogether, since I don't want to go through this ordeal the next time I don't have access to the drugs.

I'm not anxious about anything in particular. That's just the nature of my mental illness. It's called Generalized Anxiety Disorder.

Actually a very bad idea because you will only make people miss and sad because you're gone for good. I said it a few times and I was told that is a very bad thing to do to yourself.

Try exercise or cognitive behavioural therapy. Exercise is really helpful to control anxiety.

Really, zen_mistress, are you saying that at least 51% of people who are severely depressed actually commit suicide?

Not wicked, but pretty stupid to me. Or do you really think you can shock anyone with that?

How does it hurt everyone around me? A lot of people usually tell me "yeah go kill yourself, noone will miss you" and then if a few days go by and I haven't posted on the forum someone might bump the thread where I claimed that I wanted to kill myself asking other members if they think I finally killed myself. Their question is usually punctuated with a question mark followed by a smiley face. I don't see why anyone would care. And to the few poor souls who would actually care, well, I wouldn't necessarily condemn you for misplacing your empathy, but, am I not just another random internet abstraction? Even if you knew me in real life, what I choose to do with my life should be nobody else's business.
