How did you find WP?
For me it was a quincidence, that turned out to make some
big changes in some parts of my life.
On the 19 of may this year, i overheard a conversation, and
there was something about what i heard that made me a little
curious. One word i picked up was "aspergers", after a google
search WP was at the top of the list, i entered.. and here i am
today, in some ways a different man than i was just over a month
ago. The world works in mysterious ways indeed. |

i found wp in a similar way the main difference was thet while youo overthaerd poeple talking about this site as was told about it by a friend whos son also has AS
so that how i found out about htis site |

I was diagnosed at 11, I never had internet so I did what research I could at school on the computers. In one of my research things I remember hearing about WP, that was a few years ago, anyway since I am attending university this year I needed the internet and sudnley around actulay exactly a month ago I remebered reading about a site called WrongPlanet where we could be ourselves. And on the 26 of May (just checked) I signed up.

Probably alot of people here who just stumbled in and stayed,
it`s a little strange now, only two months ago i had no idea what
WP was, had only heard the word "asperger" but knew nothing
about it. Alot has happened in the short time after i joined, some good
and some bad. But some of the bad actually turned out to be good
in retrospect. This site and the people here has been, and still are, a
big help to me in some ways. (it sounds so selfish, but anyway.. my selfish
radar goes up at the sight of the words "i" and "me" i think.) |

I was reading through MindHacks and was pointed to an article about Asperger's Syndrome in IT. I had done a little bit of looking into what AS was, and I recognized a bit of my father in the article. I read through it and put it aside. But later the same day I was browsing through the forums at bodybuilding.com and saw somebody mention somebody else being an Aspie. I thought it was odd to come across twice in one day, so it got me thinking. I started looking around for reference material and every other place I went had links to here. So I check it out, and of course you folks are awesome, and here I am.

After I had been diagnosed, my dad ran into it. I saved the site but never thought of joining.
I think it was a year and then suddenly I just decided to join and thought that may be I might get something out of it. I had asked about AS groups around my area but I found that a lot of people didn't know about AS so this was about the only place I saw anything or anyone that was either diagnosed or self-diagnosed with AS or autism. My stereotypical view since then has changed from it.
I was in denial for a while about even having something related to rain man. But I see it's not like that and many members are on different spectrums of it as well as other things.

having been diagnosed years ago and having recently skewed over an important social situation i decided to look up what Asperger's actually was, the wikipedia article being a giant f**** i looked in "external links" to see if there was somewhere else to go
however helpful WP was i dident sleep properly for awile, and now i cant remember why it messed with me so bad

Upon getting my new computer (a few months ago), I went to the Wikipedia page on aspergers to see what it had to say on the subject. On Wikipedia it mentioned that one of the girls from 'America's Next Top Model' had aspergers, so I decided to read a little bit about her. After reading the Wikipedia page on the girl for a while, I noticed that at the bottom of the page it had links to various sites that mention the girl. One of the pages happened to be her interview on Wronplanet with Alex Plank. I clicked on the link and immediately signed up to the site. I didn't start using the site for about a month or so though.

I stumbled across AS in a newspaper article. The symptoms described were eerily similar. When I went online to research AS and see if I really had it, I found WP. I decided the best way to figure out if I had AS was to talk to people who did and find similarities. It wasn’t long after I joined I was 100% sure, so I went to a psychiatrist and six months later I was diagnosed.

| I had a friend at school who has AS, she thought I probably had it too so I asked about it at the doctors and (through odd coincidences) was found to have autism, my friend talked a lot about this site and one day I decided to see what it was about. through her I came to be here *nods* |

I wanted an English speaking ASD forum that allowed diversity of neurology and diversity of opinion. I saw the link in a wikipedia article for a short time and checked it out. It was pure chance that I found WP.

I was doing a lot of research on AS, trying to see if I could some ways of learning to communicate a little better. I can't remember which site provided the link to this site but I found a link to this site and 3 others. I checked this one out first and never got around to the other 3.
