...diagnosis.

My mother made me feel like the most important thing was to know how to recognize social stuff and understand social stuff, and she made it seem like I didn't recognize or understand any of it. You can guess how that made me feel.

My mother NEVER would accept there was something wrong with me....

Instead she complained that I was not trying or incinuated that if I just tried harder I could do so much better. There was no getting through that I was doing the best I could...

She still does it to this very day Sad

Um the thing i hate the most is that I'm always viewed as handicap or disabled some way or another, and treated like I have MR or down syndrome most of the time Sad.

That I sometimes get treated like I'm some stupid, seriously autistic person, despite the fact that I'm obviously more intelligent than most of the people around me. That really makes me mad.

The fact that my mom always accuses me of doing things on purpose that I honestly can't help. Like telling me that I can't possibly drop three things in a row or something like that. Also the fact that she thinks my Asperger's is some big struggle and shock for her when I'm the one that has it.

The fact that even if I do tell someone they still won't take into consideration that I have problems with certain things.

The fact that people could care less if loud noises hurt and distract me. Yeah, just go ahead and turn the TV up to sixty.

Not exactly their fault, but people who wear sweaters and try to touch me with them. I hate sweaters.

I'm filled with complaints, but that's the main ones.

It's important to know some "social stuff" but you don't have to be "perfect".
My number one complaint: discrimination. I feel discrimated against all the time.

It has everything to do with my diagnosis, who I am.

A lot of people think that AS is a fake condition.
Society has a "you're either profoundly retarded or faking it" approach to just about any disability.

I hated it when my mother and teachers treated me like I was disabled just because my diagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome was mentioned in my file at school. My mother also never let me forget it, and it got to the point where she was putting everything I did and said down to my "condition".

The fact that I was subjected to multiple aversives in many of the schools I attended as a child. Some of them happened when I was as young as 4, but I can remember them as if they happened yesterday. Sad Too many to list here. Also having to go to special ed schools throughout my school years and never getting to go to a public high school, even though I think I might've been able to do it.

Chocoholic, you need to list them eventually, if you want justice! Just try to remember as many ass you can and add to the list as you remember them.

My mother stated it as if it was a fact, "She has Asperger's Syndrome." She actually said that I had difficulty in school because I had Asperger's Syndrome. Telling her friend this over the phone. She never even considered PDD-NOS but it looks obvious to me and my shrink in Edmonton.

Ana, did you get a copy of your psychological report?

Did you get diagnosed with paranoia and Asperger's?

I got it the day before yesterday. I'm going to scan it and post it. It said my personality profile is mostly diagnosed with schizotypical disorders, and that we're suspicious of people and have few or no friends and few social skills, and feel most comfortable alone. I wasn't diagnosed with anything. I'm waiting for that. I should call the psychiatrist that my report was also sent to.

Are you serious about listing all of them? In this thread? That alone would take up a gazillion pages of bandwidth. Razz

Interesting about your suspected PDD-NOS. I always thought my official diagnosis was classic autism, but it's actually PDD-NOS.

I was under the impression that I had been diagnosed when in fact I hadn't.

I don't need a diagnosis to know that I have AS though.

That's my complaint too. I was under that impression.....or maybe now I'm under a false impression? Was I diagnosed or not? It's a simple question, yet I still have no clue.
For now, it is just the "semi-diagnosis" I refer to in my signature at the moment.
Though this shouldn't be a huge problem since I'm pretty much certainly on the spectrum.
This diagnosis stuff is just so annoying........
