Do you sometimes have a feeling you're already getting old even if in fact you're still pretty young? That for example you're already not allowed (at least by public opinion) to do some things which are reserved only for those who are younger than you.

I got the feeling that time is passing and not waiting for anybody for the first time in my late childhood if my memory serves me well, when mother and I visited my first cousin who's 18 years older than I and I took my little cousin for a short walk around their apartment because adults pushed us out to play together outside.

We met children from neighbourhood who knew her - they were older than my cousin but younger than myself, they must have been somewhere about 5-8 years old then. They asked me about my age so I told them - I am not sure - 10 years and 10 months old or maybe I was 11 years and 10 months old, I don't remember, anyway what I remember well is that I felt foolish talking with younger kids and turned down their proposition to play because the only reason of it was that in my view I was too old to play with younger children. I felt some phase of my life had finished.

You know you’re getting old when you’re asked how old you are and their response is, “Man, you’re old!”

I've felt old for a while, and the fact that I have a birthday coming up doesn't help. Confused

Same here - I had been waiting for my 18th birthday and suddenly it turns out this barrier is illusory, nothing changes if you still live with your parents.

I'm getting old (I'm 35 and getting more grays every day) but I feel like a teenager still.

I feel about 23 mentally and I'm almost 30, so it isn't a problem for me. Laughing

You are only as old as you feel.

I'm 27 and I feel terrible about my age.
I had great plans for when I got to 20 and I never even achieved those!.
I'm going to be thirty in no time and I still have the executive functioning of some 15 year old.
. . . and I know it's only gonna get worse from here on.

When I was 18, I had the biggest graduation party(drinking) of anybody in my class. Now that I'm 33, I feel useless to the world, and it is just the way things go. Somebody has to suffer in order to provide balance. If everone was happy, they wouldn't be happy. They would just be normal. Sometime I just feel I drew the shorter straw, plus I'm getting old. shrug

I'm a strange contradiction - I look innocent and therefore possibly younger than I am (how can I say?) and yet I am so worldly that I tend to have more in common with people older than me. When I hang out with people my own age, I get along with them, but most seem a bit immature and innocent or sheltered or something, and easily shocked. I seem to be able to relate to older people on a deeper level.

I'm 28 and don't keep track of others' maturity.
