In Firefox 3, i've been getting symbols like "…" and another symbol. These are usually for punctuation and things, but it's really annoying. Do I have to install a plug in or something? _________________ "We can't stop here, this is bat country." - Hunter S. Thompson |

I see those fairly often, and not just on FFox. I think it has to do with the editor/word processor used to generate the message. I know that many use Word or Works or such to type their message and then cut and paste into the message box offered by the forum site.

| Have you tried going to View --> Character Encoding --> Auto-Detect --> Universal? |

That didn't work.
I also get boxes that look like this: "₵"
If you don't have this problem, it looks like a box with the number 20 on the top and the number 85 on the bottom (as this example). _________________ "We can't stop here, this is bat country." - Hunter S. Thompson |

Just to see if we are talking the same language...
Above, between double quotes, rather than a single symbol, I see three characters: an 'a' with circumflex, a Euro currency symbol and a broken vertical bar.
Your latest post has a cent symbol between double quotes, not "a box with the number 20 on the top and the number 85 on the bottom", which sounds rather as if you are seeing a symbol character used for displaying scan keys.
Your problem may be a corrupted font, or more likely, just a wrong font selected. _________________ Oregano, n: The ancient Italian art of pizza folding.

I guess you are using the wrong encoding. I'd try either UTF-8 or iso 8859-15. _________________ I am no native speaker. Please contact me, if I made grammatical mistakes in the posting above.

I see the box with numbers in it, and I don't normally have a problem with encoding. _________________ The two loudest sounds in the world are a click when you should hear a bang, and a bang when you should hear a click.

Ah. The former is what I see (it was there instead of a bracket on one page) and the latter is apparently what it was supposed to be, but not what I see. It's not a bother, it's just really strange. _________________ "We can't stop here, this is bat country." - Hunter S. Thompson |
