The question: Ever have one of those moments where you feel guilty about paying to see a movie (in a theater) that you thought was completely underwhelming? Granted, this isn't another worst movies ever thread, just films you feel guilty about seeing on the big screen.

My picks:
- when Close Encounters played the Cinerama Dome in 1999; I regret making the trip with my mom and sister. (Granted, it's a terrific theater, but I could've watched the film on TV for free. Maybe if it was in 70mm, that would've been a different story...)
- Pokemon: The First Movie
- the E.T. reissue, where the guns were replaced with walkie-talkies
- Kangaroo Jack
- The Da Vinci Code
- Surf's Up
- The Spiderwick Chronicles

Panic Room. My brother was a huge fan of the film's director, (David Fincher) and dragged me to see it, which I didn't mind since I enjoyed Seven.

Man, was that a boring movie. Made me wish that my brother paid for my ticket.

- The Black Dahlia. How do you make a movie about the Black Dahlia CALLED the Black Dahlia that has nothing at all to do with the Black Dahlia murders? The plot actually had to remind the characters with force that they were trying to solve this murder. Brian DePalma's a hack.
- The DaVinci Code. Oddly enough the movie was interesting when I was watching it. It wasn't until after it was over I realized it was actually incredibly stupid. Me and my friend were driving home and slowly it dawned on us "...wait a minute!". That probably says more about my intelligence though than the movie's.

Pokemon: The First Movie. Not that it was a bad movie, but because the theatre was so overcrowded that I felt claustrophobic to the point of nausea and had to leave.

I still feel really fortunate that I got to see Return of the Jedi for free at a beautiful historic theater in Baltimore. The movie had already started so they didn't charge me admission. But I still got to see most of it on a huge screen in a perfect setting, and I had seen it many times before so I was not thrown off by what I missed.

Howard the Duck.

Recent movie of that caliber was, "Kung Fu High School". This movie was sooooo stupid, that I was laughing hysterically on the way home.

For me, it's The Strangers. It's the worst possible combination of blithering stupidity, cruelty, and torture porn. I almost walked out on it, but I wanted to know how it ends (very out of place, if you ask me, but I won't post any spoilers).

So far, I haven't had that kind of experience.

Borat was sooo funny! I can understand some people not liking it though. It was blatantly offensive in a South Park-like way.

For me the worst I can think of is Pixar's Cars. That wasn't so much because it was a bad movie, is was just that it was a very average movie, and it didn't live up to the high expectations Pixar have created for themselves.

There are two movies: Tomcats and Not Another Teen Movie. I thought that both of them are dumb.
