Is there anyone that asks people questions but don't remember asking them it?

I ask people questions like if they have seen this movie or that movie and they tell me I have already asked them it. I always feel like I can't even remember what conversations I had with people. That's why I say I have a bad memory. Does anyone else do this?

What about telling people something and not even remembering you told them, so you end up telling them again? I do this and so does one of my aspie friends. But I don't know if he does this because he doesn't remember he already told me. Now he asks me if he has already told me "this" before he tells the story.

I do that allllllll the time. Thankfully my boyfriend does it too, so he's a little more understanding about it. Anyone else would just get annoyed with me.

I do that too! Sometimes my friends don't mind or they bring something new to the repeated question.

something like that. People will introduce new people to me, and the moment the name comes out, I become a complete blank.

Poor short term memory is an aspie trait.

I'm usually good at conversational recall though. But if you ask me what someone's name is.... nup....

Yes this happens to me a lot. Or else I will ask repetitive questions out of anxiety.

Aspies tend to focus on one thing at a time, and deeply. If my mind is busy with something else, I'm likely to not register the answer to my question. Like if I'm worrying about the impression I'm making, reminding myself to make eye contact, etc. I'll register little of what the other person is saying.

I never do this. I have a sharp mid-term memory as I call it. My dad is always forgetting things I tell him and I am the opposite.

Happens all the time. But now I get to blame it on middle age and menopause!

There's an up side to many things.

I don't know if this is the same:

I can remember if I told something, always. I just do not remember whom I told something.

People, to me, tend to blend into all the same. If I told one, I just remember that I told a 'person'.

I remember their responses, what I said, down to the very sentences that were said. I have no recollection who I talked to.

Hehe, this happens to me often. I sometimes forget getting an answer and ask the same question again later. Embarassed
