I doubt many Americans understand any religious practice outside of Christianity. I don't even think many Americans even understand Christianity. Perhaps, this money might be put to good use after all.
yeah, great programs like abstinence-only sex education programs that lie about the effectiveness of condoms and discourages birth control.

The office of faith-based-initiatives actually had more to do with duping evangelical Christians out of their votes than religion -- and the people who set it up (like Karl Rove) don't believe in G-d or have any respect for people who do.
I suppose if Obama advocated abolishing that office it would used it as evidence that he's "against religion," and "probably a muslim" (he's Christian, despite the rumor-that-won't-die). The office ought to be done away with, though.

This is unfortunate. I was starting to believe that Bush's policies would be done away with like the total failures they are, and people were realizing how bad they were.

you have too much faith in people and in politicians.
Faith-based initiative. I don't even know what that means. It could mean anything and everything. You gotta love deliberately vague g-speak. I'm sure there's some counterpart to the faith-based initiative (FBI?) up north of the border.
