There have been relitively few movies based on video games and they usually suck. Does anyone have an idea for a video game related movie that they think would actually be decent?

First off, I want to say that there NEEDS to be a chrono trigger movie. Most people recognize the franchise, and it has a good "retro factor".
And come on, a CGI "day of Lavos" would be EPIC!

Also, I would love to see an Earthbound movie. Making it cheesy and low budget would actually enhance the movie. Dick Cheney should play Giygas.

Dead to Rights would make a pretty sweet movie. The style of action would translate well to the big screen.

Diablo would make for a great movie too. We're seeing a lot of fantasy movies, but no dark fantasy flicks, so I think a Diablo movie would fill that void quite nicely.

What I would love to see is a animated movie version of Devil May Cry. Yeah, I know that there was a anime that came out earlier this year, but that wasn't very good. Get a animation studio who could do the over the top action properly and a good writer to capture Dante's personality and we'd be in business.

I'm going to list a few and assume that, in the adaptations, they'd actually be decent and would be true to the source material (unlike any video game film to date except "Silent Hill"):

-American McGee's Alice. Yeah I know one has been "in development" forever, but let's face it, if it happens and Buffy is Alice and it's indeed directed by that hack Marcus Nispel, it's gonna SUCK. So I'm saying a GOOD one should be made--directed by Tim Burton, who ironically is directing an Alice in Wonderland film that ISN'T American McGee's Alice. Meanwhile Marilyn Manson is supposedly doing Phantasmagoria, a film about Lewis Carrol that apparently will use music from the AMA game! Adding to the confusion, at one point Tim Burton said he wanted to make a film about Marilyn Manson and his doomed relationship with Dita Von Teese! So why the hell don't they all just come together and make a kickass American McGee's Alice film with the soundtrack based on the soundtrack from the game, directed by Tim Burton, with Marilyn Manson playing some part in it (maybe the mad hatter? I dunno) and providing some original song for the credits? Sheesh.

-BloodRayne. A GOOD adaptation shoulda been made, with good visuals, good costumes, dismembered Nazi's, a lead actress who actually looks the part, can actually act, and is actually hot, and actually gets the freaking outfit right!

-Grim Fandango, done through stop motion!

-The Longest Journey, and Dreamfall. It's begging to be a film trilogy. NOW IF ONLY THEY'D COME OUT WITH DREAMFALL 2...which is supposed to be in an episodic format. CURSES!

-Max Payne. Trust me, the actual film is gonna stink. If only they made a good one.

-Monkey Island. I'm Guybrush Threepwood, and I'm a mighty pirate!

-Oddworld. Who doesn't love Abe, the flatulent blue knucklehead? A full length CGI Oddworld feature film would be grand. SCRABS AND SLIGS AND PARAMITES, OH MY!

-Silent Hill 2, based on the SH2 game, with the same story. MORE PYRAMID HEAD!

-The Sims. YES, SERIOUSLY. You remember its advertisements? Now imagine a full 2 hour film like that, constant craziness. Like Pleasantville on crack.

-Starcraft. YEAH!

-Thief. Garrett kicks arse, and with the right lead and atmosphere and director this could be something stunning. It'd have to be really gritty and realistic but at the same time, very stylized.

-Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption or maybe Bloodlines (though Redemption's story would work better as a film)

I'd like to see a "Space Quest" movie... that would be so freaking hilarious. They could get Owen Wilson to play Roger Wilco. Of course, I'm not sure it could happen, now that someone's already made "Galaxy Quest."

YES! Thief is one of the most underrated games ever. I'd love to see someone make a film out of it, since the look and feel of it would make for a beautiful film.

I've always said Shadowrun would make a good movie. But not the FPS Shadowrun, that was just bad.

Banjo-Kazooie
-Smooth out the story and keep in Rare's sense of humor and you'll have a funny movie.

Gex
-The games aren't that great, but if they could stitch the jokes together into a coherent plot, it could be a hilarious movie.

Star Fox
-The games are really plot-based anyway, so they just need better writers to make it bearable to watch for ninety minutes or so straight.

Zelda: Ocarina of Time
-It's one of the highest-rated games ever, so it's practically begging to be made.

What they really need to do, is a really epic Super Mario Brothers animated movie, probably computer animated in the style of the games. I think that we need to see an origin story. And this is coming from someone who actually enjoyed the live action movie.

*Hurriedly puts shield up.*

Now, IGN showed that people want a Legend of Zelda movie, and I do reckon that live action is the way to go, although I think the plot should be a mixture of Twilight Princess and Minish Cap. I'm not convinced that Ganondorf would make a good villain, unless he was more like the one seen in Wind Waker.

Metroid would be a difficult one to adapt. But if you could do so the right way, it'd be bigger than Alien. I think it should have a lot of scenes looking at Samus' past.
