Um...hi. Long time lurker, first time poster.

In case you're interested (and none of you are, believe me), I'm a 23-year-old college grad currently working at Wal-Mart. I was diagnosed with Aspergers when I was seventeen, at the same time my younger brother was. However, the little snot managed to get found out early enough that he got extra services and programs throughout school, while I had to tough it out my whole life... Sorry, little bit of bitterness.

I never really took Aspergers seriously, until I tried student teaching last year. Despite obtaining a nearly masterful grasp on the concepts of teaching, I was never able to socially adapt to the job. I was the only person in years to fail in that institution's student teaching program. I decided to try again in a few years, after I've gotten some work experience elsewhere. Then the economy crashes a week later. Crud.

Since then, I've more or less accepted my diagnosis, moved on, and tried to find some place I fit. I'm taking classes to get an accounting certificate, my job at Wal-Mart is actually going okay (with some stresses here and there), and I'm parlaying my free time into writing a video game design bible and picking up odd jobs to help pay off my student loans. That, and watching stuff on YouTube. Lots of stuff...

Okay, sorry about all this. Anyway, I love this site, and will hopefully stick around a little.

Hello dGalloway.
Yeah, my son graduated with a degree in Computer Science just as the dotcom bubble burst. He pushed patients around at a Vet's hospital until we talked him into going to Digipen and debt. Of course he got hired before he graduated from there as so many of the students there do. He's a programmer at a video game company now.

Hi.

Yeah, I don't think I could handle the teaching bit that well either. I mean, I understand the concepts perfectly, I can translate from technical to easy-to-understand (usually without dumbing-down), and I love teaching people things. I just couldn't survive more than about 3 minutes in front of a room full of people.
