| Well, politics is often a broad enough topic to include many things related to social studies or humanities, and with a topic that broad, we are bound to have a ton of interested people. |

We are bored and have nothing better to do
But seriously, I think it is, like Awesomelyglorious said, such a broad topic that most people can find something interesting in it. _________________ "A witty saying proves nothing." -Voltaire |

Aspolitics topic
I always think of politics as the analyzing of control and influence within a group. I tend to stand on the outside looking in, but sometimes I get in there and stir things up with my opinions. This does not make me popular, but then, I never was anyone's favourite.
I think for Aspies, we have been on the outside so much that we are very analytical about anything, and so we do not accept the standard version. This does not make one popular. If I agree with a view it is because I have analyzed it from every angle and have decided that it will be part of my weltanshauung (world view). Like many Aspies, I do not accept every tenet of a philosophy, so my approach is eclectic. I have never formally subscribed to a political philosophy like Libertariansim, conservatism, liberalism, etc, though I may agree with more tenets of one of these groups than another. They all have some merit. For party politics in my own country I support the candidate whose platform most closely agrees with mine.
At any rate, I enjoy the topics in the PPR forum. I have learned a lot since posting here, even if I do not agree with everything written, it does get the neurons firing!

I believe it is a masochistic tendency, for all humans, and not just aspies. _________________ At moments when monsters spawn in by rising up from the ground, it turns the action into a gory, protracted session of Whack-A-Mole.

| I don't know about other people, but I got into politics my sophomore year of high school. I found that it was a good way to vent the high amount of anger I had at the time resulting from issues with my ex-girlfriend. |

I was into politics at a early age, it was always the main topic at the dinner table growing up. We were raised to have our own political beliefs, my dad was conservative, my sister is new democrat, I am liberal, with some libertarian leanings. Its aways important to have some sort of political view regardless of which party you believe in. _________________ http://neuraldeviant.freesmfhosting.com |

For me, I can't find a party I like. The Libertarians decided to be sell-outs this year. _________________ WAR IS PEACE

My junior-year English teacher would love that. He described himself as an "environmentalist Fascist." We spent more time in his class making fun of liberals than we did reading British Literature. _________________ WAR IS PEACE

^Of course. Some of my favorite quotes from him:
(When we began the unit on poetry, which he approached with an attitude of disgust and contempt) "Remember, 100% of all poetry is written by LIBERALS."
"You know, with some people the world would be better off if they were just clubbed to death like baby seals."
"William the Conqueror only invaded Britain because he didn't like being called William the Bastard."
"Have you heard my idea for the 'welfare boat?' You take everyone on welfare, put them on a really big boat, and shove it out to sea."
"If someone created a society like the one in Brave New World, I'd go."
(On the subject of who's going to hell) "Mormons first (pointing at a Mormon in the class), and Presbyterians next!!!"(pointing at me) Me: "What about the Baptists?" (He had already ranted against those heretics) "Oh, they're already there." _________________ WAR IS PEACE
