I hate others' reactions to it, and I suffer very much because of them, but dare I confess that I'm quite fascinated by my AS in itself.
What a strange phenomenon AS is...only example I know of a beautiful disability! _________________ "It is the wounded oyster that mends its shell with pearl" - Ralph Waldo Emerson |

| I think ASDs are the most fascinating group of neurological disorders to study. |

I've always thought that anything about how the brain works is absolutely amazing. I quite enjoy reading phycology books and the like. AS is no exception. _________________ Humm, guess I should put something witty here, huh? |

It is like buying a computer, finding out that, though it can't do SOME things, it can do a lot others CAN'T, and that is due to an odd program. You THEN find that only SOME computers have that program. THEN, you find the name of that program! AS!
HECK YEAH I am fascinated. I wish I knew a lot more about it earlier. I STILL want all the accessories!

I'm fascinated by the depth of analysis I can reach due to being an Aspie, as compared to NTs. The creativity, the ability to rejoice in my obsessions, etc. _________________ "It is the wounded oyster that mends its shell with pearl" - Ralph Waldo Emerson |

I'm probably less fascinated by the ASD itself, but more fascinated by the fact that perceptions of the world differ. I am fascinated by emotions, social interaction, how other people, autistic and non-autistic see the world in comparison to me and how other people can be so different from me.
The ASD branches into topics that explain so much about the world, and what makes a person.
I am very curious to find out whether I have AS or PDD-NOS though. Seeing how no professional can answer this in my country, I must answer it myself. I am not sure if that counts as a fascination. _________________ The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it. In my honest opinion, Asperger's is a double-edged sword. It has helped me a lot when it comes to art, facts and so on. But the lack of social intuition is the price I pay. _________________ "The urge to save humanity is almost always only a false-face for the urge to rule it."--H. L. Mencken |

Fascinated by it? I accept it, like being white or being male. It's fundamental to who I am. I've always been different. Now there's a name for it. I accept it. I think self-acceptance and acceptance of others are key to being accepted by others. _________________
