Coffee has loads of antioxidants which we already know. But how many of you can actually drink it black? I have to add stuff to my coffee in order to drink it.
I add Carnation instant breakfast to mine. I feel like the protein helps me feel full after I have my caffeine buzz. The runner up is green tea, which I can down strait, but it doesn't wake me up the same.
My question: Is there a coffee that is less bitter than other coffee? |

Coffee for antioxidants - yes, I've read of this. Plus, coffe can help ameloriate some symptoms of allergies, even asthma, migraines - somewhat, depending upon individual.
For me, coffee, specifically the caffeine, can make me really nervous! I don't need any extra nervousness - I've got plenty. I do drink some but in small quantities and not too often.
Adding ingredients, like cream, flavor, can make coffee less bitter. Coffee is an acquired taste so you might just become accustomed. There is a 'less bitter' trick though! Try it - sounds odd, but it works. When you brew coffee add just a smidgen of salt (yes, NaCl)! Tiny quantity.
Tannins make coffe bitter. Green tea, all tea, has tannins too, but coffee is the winner in bitter tannins. Salt somehow offsets this but I don't really know why/how. Otherwise, just brew weaker coffee, and add your Carnation breakfast mix.
I know one male who actually drinks TheraFlu (when he has the flu/cold) ONLY dissolved in coffee - YUCK! But he insists this works.....freebasing TheraFlu!
Oh...I can add: You may buy 'less acidic' coffee at the store too - this might help. Or '1/2 caff.' Columbian brewed is bitter - try a 'softer' brew. Starbucks is the WORST in bitter! _________________ same nightmare, different nap

Is there a coffee that is less bitter than others? Yes. The type of bean used, and the way it is roasted can have a big effect on flavor, including bitterness, astringency, sourness, etc.
I would suggest an all-Columbian bean coffee, with a medium or mild roast. Also, the strength of the brew can have an effect - I use one international coffee measure of ground beans to 2.5 cups water.
I can drink coffee black, but prefer a bit of whole milk or cream. When I am on the road and the only 'milk' is some crap with 130 ingredients, I skip that and drink it black.
Coffee is a good source of fiber. Really - it is water-soluble, based on arabino-galactins. |

| I only ever drink my coffee black! I love most varieties of Percol coffee but particularly the Guatamalan. Yemeni peaberry coffee is very expensive but the flavour is probably more subtle than your average ground coffee. I am ashamed to say I also love the bags of Costa or Starbucks House blend. |

Try dandelion tea? Caffeine free so no good if that's why you like coffee, but it tastes similar and it's pretty good for you... _________________ We are a fever, we are a fever, we ain't born typical...
