Okay, I originally started this thread in another forum but then thought that one was a better place for it.
I personally don't care for it. I never chew gum. |

What I don't care for is the sound of chewing gum.
Or all the smacking sounds in people's mouths in general. *shudder*
Unless I'm way relaxed or something, I have to restrain myself from growling at people who make those noises. (As a kid I used to actually physically grab people to try to make them stop, but I learned better manners as I got older.) _________________ "We may seem in the gutter from up there where you are but maybe you don't know we still see the same stars." -Donna Williams |

The gum-gum with flavour-flavour topic
I like to chew gum, as my mouth gets dry. I would be drinking too much water otherwise.
Love the minty taste. I will try not to chew loud and bother anyone, though no member has yet complained! _________________ Radical Aspergian

Not only do I not chew, I absolutely cannot stand the smell. _________________ "How come when it's us, it's an abortion, and when it's a chicken, it's an omelette?"

| ^^ Yaye, I do indeedy not chew chewing gum. ^^ The eternal chewing and absence of swallowing certainly frightens me. |

I have never liked gum, mostly because you aren't supposed to swallow it, meaning you have to keep it around until you find some place to throw it away.
I like to eat Starbursts instead; they have a similar consistency to chewing gum, but it's okay to swallow them. |

| Only certain types - fruity ones are minging, it's got to be peppermint. It always makes me gag in my throat after about 20 mins though. I also got put off after trying some on holiday that suddenly dissolved or imploded or something in my mouth - it vanished, anyway. Really nasty texture. |

I have TMJ so I cannot chew gum...painful. However, for some reason I cannot stand for others to chew gum. I cannot stand the smacking and for some reason it makes people look like jerks...I don't know why. _________________ On with the show...This is it. |

A jaw problem, sometimes caused by trauma. An audible "pop" is heard when chewing certain things, and night time "grinding" of the teeth is sometimes associated.
Based on a friend with TMJ. I don't know what the specific problem is, just symptoms. Anybody? _________________ Still grateful.

| Can't stand the taste, texture, the noise when other people are chewing it, the smell, the mess from when people spit it out and it gets trodden into the pavement.. Vile stuff. |

I leave the room when my dad starts to cruch ice. Or eat with his mouth open. _________________ Still grateful.
