Hello. Even though there is so much pain inside me right now, I invite you all to try your hand at writing an emo poem. If you don't know, an emo is basically a mini-goth who has lots of perceived angst in their life and looks a bit like the picture above. Emo bands tend to write songs about death, pain, self-harm, failed relationships, abuse, black hearts, blood and other things that scare small children.

I am not an emo and, as far as I know, most people here aren't, so this thread should be treated as light-hearted and not serious. Not being an emo, I don't write emo poems on a regular basis so the one that I have written is exaggerated and slightly satirical.

Here's an emo poem that I just wrote, called breaking an empty vase:

I look at the stars and think
About my sadness, like a well of tears
Rising from the bottom of despair.
My bed is cold and empty like my heart and like your grave
I dont think i can carry on like this

My body is wasting away and im so cold and scarred inside
My heart must be beating but i cant feel it
I hope i die soon, already i feel blacker than the night around the stars
Your poison kisses are still wet on my cracked grey lips
I am still spinning from our last dance
I can only turn my head towards emptiness and loss
Your grave is the only place that smells of you

But now everywhere else smells of death
Nobody at school cares about how i feel
They tell me to go away and cut myself
So i do but i dont feel any better
I just want to go away and be with you

Now write yours. Go on. The more emo the better.

Disclaimer: This whole thing is just for fun...nobody's gonna take you seriously. Razz If you are an emo, then I don't mean any offence. Also, writing emo poetry doesn't automatically make you an emo, so it's ok to do it as a joke.

An Emo Haiku:

Nobody likes me.
Everybody hates me.
My life is hopeless.

Short and sweet, nice.

An Emo Limerick:

There once was an Aspie named Ted,
Whose girlfriend wished she was dead.
He hugged her and sighed,
"We've already died,"
And shot themselves both in the head.

Its Friday Night
And everything is so dull
I wish I had a gathering of aspies here
or a Cradle of Filth record to listen to
So I could contemplate
My bizarre existence
And I wish that clowns holding chainsaws
Would rain from the sky
And I would sit in my room
Wondering why everything is so black
And why I have depression
For the seventeenth year in a row
And as the black dog howls,
The sky becomes red, the colour of Valentines roses
And I wish that my poems
would rhyme.

No knives for me!
No, I prefer a slow and metred wounding:
preternaturally calm progressions of smooth skin
to roughness and to blood,
not opened but instead
thinned slowly into nonexistence
through the agency of fingernails.

Why? To escape
delusions, and the cankering
of many miniature self hatreds,
coiled tightly and contorted,
insistent, nonsensical,
a clatter as of crows
keening together in cocophanies,
an endless chorus of damnable things.

Obliquely, wounds confer
solace and comfort of a sickened kind —
though only partial, only
an imperfect refuge, not complete
in their distractions —
as the slow seep of the lymph
becomes the entirety of sensation,
welling from a gash not gouged
quite deep enough to drip,
to spill the anguish totally and bring about release —
there can be no release
from gouges, ultimately.

im not sure if it would classify as a poem or a quote"

even a ray of light,
will only emphasize,
the depth of ones,
own darkness.

the truth is inconceivable
the lies are indescribable
the memories are shattered
glass in a million pieces

the world outside is dark and raining
the sun is on sabbatical and is somewhere meandering

the cop cars are screaming
the ambulances are yelling
the music of anger is playing
on the dark streets of shattered buildings

my friends are non-existant
they vanished in the gruesome war between
ourselves and the world

my friends were all narcissists
they acted like they were the finest pieces of sh**
the amazing ambience of agony
everywhere
dissolved into my brain
with all the cacophony of raindrops outside
washing away any happiness

Mutilation is a sport on tv
just turn to channel five and you will see

the news is abysmal
one guy in Swaziland
got struck by lighting

in Finland today
there were shootings in school

Iraq another bomb
and five more lives lost in the sand

In South Africa
race shedding is coming
the lights have all vanished

now we cannot forget in India
the boss decided to make the guy
talk to some twat from Scotland

the rain keeps falling down
falling down

thunder screams
and lightining cracks

and disastors in every direction
blood running down the streets
accumlating into mountains of the devil
and the lava washes away our towns and cities
and disintegrates us into a million bits
vanished in the dark
for time immemorial

There's some excellent poems here guys, but alas, life is too miserable to appreciate them. Sad All laughter is gone from my soul, and I cannot wait for the sun to scream down into the black void. Maybe one day there will be release from this all-consuming pain, but the bats of dysfunction swirl round my tormented head.

Btw, I'll write another one later. Writing emo poems is oddly addicting. Cool
