I don't know about any of you guys, but I absolutely love the myst series.
It's because:
A) It's a free universe
B) It's a puzzle/logic game, so there's absolutely no fighting at all (I'm more of a pacifist than anything else)
C) You can solve the puzzles on your own time, and there's no timer or anything
D) There are numerous sequels, so you can advance at your own pace
E) Who wouldn't want to be able to actually VISIT the world you've written, and see the pages come to live? I sure as heck would love to se the universe I created for the chars I write about
F) There's actually a plot to it, so you don't just sit around solving puzzles for nothing, like some arcade games will do.
Any thoughts on this series? |

Oh yes!!!
Love the series, LOVE the music too.
if Ana was on right now, she'd chime in too, she's a REAL MYST junkie.
Since I run a Mac, I never got to play URU on line. Did you? _________________ Pain and pleasure are the twins who slowly out of focus spin around us. |

I liked the first Myst (haven't played the others), but it unfortunately created a huge market for terrible clones I'd like to try the 3D remake, that seems like a kind of cool idea.
I'm more of a fan of the works of Sierra Online, LucasArts, Infocom, and especially Icom =) _________________ How wonderful to be so profound. |

No, I hated Myst. I have no idea what its appeal was coming from far superior games like The Dig and Full Throttle. Granted, they were released after Myst but the creators seemed to understand what made a game fun more than the Myst creators ever did.
Myst was a lot like one of the old text adventure games, just with a graphical interface that didn't allow nearly as much interaction as the best text parsers of the time. |

I prefer 3. person adventure games rather than 1. person adventure games. _________________ WP doesn't have a working first amendment.

| I loved Riven. Its the direct sequel to Myst, and the only one i played. It took me over one year to finish it. I guess you have to be over inteligent to finish these games. More than Monkey Island or Full Throttle. |

I tried, because the graphics are pretty, but....basically, for me the game always boiled down to: "Go here, fiddle with this thing. Go there, fiddle with that thing." I never got anywhere without a walkthrough, and even WITH a walkthrough I got stuck in "Riven." Bottom line, I find the games boring as hell. I like interacting with characters. I like PLOTS.
I much prefer LucasArts adventure games like Monkey Island or Grim Fandango...they make me laugh. I don't play games to fiddle with crap over and over again. I play games to have FUN. |

| I tryed the first mist. Hated it. The first thing you need to do is pull books from a shelf and read them in game to figure out whats going on. This totally turned me off. I want to play a game, not sit there and read text on the sceeen. |

I enjoyed Myst (1-5); even enjoyed the book the Miller brothers released.
Is that way dorky? |

| I never played Uru online but it may be coming back with a very low subscription cost and user-driven storyline/content. |

I'm thinking about getting Myst for my DS, but I'll probably need a walkthrough. -_- _________________ I wandered all night, I wondered all night about you
