I don't know if there was a topic about flash carts for NDS on WP (If there is, please let me know).
I bought a CycloDS Evolution with EZ Flash 3 in 1 last week, and my package arrived last Friday. I'm happy with CycloDS, although I haven't tried the EZ 3 in 1.
And today, my Supercard SD arrived. I haven't tried it.
I just want to know if somebody here use flash carts, what cart do you own (slot1 or slot2), and your thoughts about them. _________________ . . . Pictures in your mind will tell you what to do. Listen to the voice from nowhere sayin' to you "My son, my world will soon revive" . . . |

I've got an EZFlash 4 for slot 2 (got an original DS, not a Lite, otherwise I would've gotten the Deluxe edition). It's pretty nice once you figure out how to change the skin and the terrible Engrish and everything. Would've preferred something that supported Pogoshell, but whatever. It's the easiest and cheapest card around, and it took me quite a while to find a slot 2 card that actually ran GBA games Go figure. It seems to run DS stuff decently as well, but I don't use it for that very often. Only problems I've had with it is it doesn't like to run two-player stuff sometimes.
For slot 1, I got a DSX, 512MB. Everyone seems to be ranting and raving about the R4 these days, but when I got mine, it had the best reviews out there (and it had no Engrish, a huge selling point for me). It certainly could be better, and their customer support is terrible, but whatever...I have very few problems with games, with minimal dinking around.
It's funny, I was really excited about getting flash carts so I could run homebrew...and it turns out that most of the good homebrew is emulators =/ Still nice to be able to play a lot of stuff on the go though, and I love that I can have all my GBA games in one convenient cart...not to mention, I'm a really big fan of try-before-you-buy =) _________________ How wonderful to be so profound. |

R4 was good in the past, when there wasn't many competence. Now, there are a lot of new carts, some of them better in some ways. Also, there are a lot of pirate R4s, and clones (like N5, R6, R4-III, . . .).
I won a R4 from a bid (a big bargain, I thought) on something similar to eBay. The cart worked perfectly, and it seemed to be original, it was in the original box with the silicon protective case, the USB reader and everything, but I found this:
http://www.dsflashcards.com/dsflash/notes/how-to-identify-original-r4ds.php
I checked my R4 and the circuit board had the mark CARD-7A, and the chip had the number 0822#. According to these pics, my R4 was a high imitation version.
I sent a mail to the guy who sold me the cart, and he didn't sell piracy and all his carts were genuine. Then, I showed him that page, and he said he didn't know and I could have my money back. But, a classmate wants my R4 (he knows it's an imitation), and I'll sell it to him soon, so I don't have a problem after all. _________________ . . . Pictures in your mind will tell you what to do. I bought some touch pens from a guy on eBay...New Super Mario Bros. series 2...didn't realize until a few months later that they were obviously bootlegged =(
The fact that he had them before they were supppsed to come out should've tipped me off _________________ How wonderful to be so profound. |

I have a Nintendo DS (the first one), and a Game Boy Advance SP Classic NES Edition.
I use my Supercard SD only with my GBA SP. It runs great on NDS, but I use it only for GB/GBC/GBA roms (sometimes for NES/SMS/NGP/... roms too). My CycloDS microSD is filled with NDS games and 100 MB of MP3s.
Right now, I'm listening to music from my GBA SP. I found a GBA media player for Supercard SD and I wanted to try it. The sound is ok, but you have to convert any movie or MP3 to a GBA format. _________________ . . . Pictures in your mind will tell you what to do. Glad to find your post , but you know r4 factory shut down for more than a month, almost all supplies of r4ds in the market are copies now. be aware of that. mac _________________ Cool ds slot solutions here, m3ds, dstt, ezflash v, ds one, acekard 2, ds firecard...http://www.dsflashcards.com |

I semi-take back what I said about DSX...a newer firmware was leaked (1.1.3b I think) and now everything's working great =)
Shame it seems like the company itself is in some sort of limbo... _________________ How wonderful to be so profound. |

I haven't played around with MP3 on GBA/DS too much (I've got an MP3 player for that), but I think DSOrganize can play MP3s, probably OGGs too (it can play everything else). OGGs probably sap more power, though. _________________ How wonderful to be so profound. |

I use R4 for slot 1 and EZ 3in1 for Slot 2.
So whats a good alternative to the R4? I mean if mine breaks down for some reason, dunno what to get. R4 seem to be the most compatible and I never had any problems with games. |

R4 factory shut down, the sys kernel files will not be updated anymore, so new games might have problems to run.
You should choose items with good reputation, such as m3ds, cyclods... _________________ Cool ds slot solutions here, m3ds, dstt, ezflash v, ds one, acekard 2, ds firecard...http://www.dsflashcards.com |

I agree. CycloDS and M3 are the best flashcarts. Although I haven't tried EZ Flash V Plus, I think it's a good option too because I have read good things about it.
If you are looking for something similar to R4, a good item could be M3, it's almost the same, and you wouldn't have problems with fake carts.
CycloDS has full WiFi and Wii compatibility (EZVPlus have full WiFi too, R4 and M3 don't have this). It's ok if you are looking for something more complete than R4, but it's the most expensive cart. _________________ . . . Pictures in your mind will tell you what to do. R4 doesn't have Wifi? didn't know that.
On other forums, I always see people having issues with M3 |

R4 has a limited WiFi support.
I have problems with Mario Kart DS, for example. I updated my R4 on august with the last firmware and this doesn't fix my problems. _________________ . . . Pictures in your mind will tell you what to do. Listen to the voice from nowhere sayin' to you "My son, my world will soon revive" . . . |
