I read someplace that people with autism have poor motor coordination. Supposedly one of the ways this is shown is by not swinging your arms back and forth while walking, or running. I noticed that when I walk, my arms just stay by my side, they might swing back and forth a tiny bit due to the vibrations from me walking, but i dont put any force into swinging my arms. But whenever I observe other people walk, I notice that most of them swing there arms back and forth a lot.
When running I notice the same thing. Whenever I run, I usually bring my arms up, with my hands out in front (almost like I am carrying some drinks). I just leave my hands out there, and use them for balance. But when other people run, their arms swing back and forth really quickly.
Do your arms naturally swing back and forth when you walk/run, or do they generally stay in one position with little to no swinging? |

| I haven't noticed by arm movements whatsoever. I could have them down my pants for all I know. |

When I'm walking people have told me my arms are stiff and tense and for me to relax a bit. Hopefully after enough times of me telling them they should pick up that that's normal for me
Whenever I put in a conscious effort to move/swing them I forget after a few minutes. |

| I don't move my arms when I walk either, and when I try to I find it very awkward and uncomfertable. I also don't really know where to put my arms when just standing still quite often, does anyone else have this problem? |

I never thought about it. I know I swing my arms back and forth sometimes because I choose to but I never thought about I do it naturally or they stay still. So I asked my boyfriend if I swing them and he said "Yes, sometimes."
How can you not know where to put your arms biro? They're on you. I always thought they are supposed to stay hanging down besides your body. Some people also fold their arms while standing. _________________ http://www.factcheck.org/

Yes, but I never did when I was younger. I started improving my posture, my walking style and so on a few years ago. _________________ WP doesn't have a working first amendment. |

lol, what I meant was I don't know whether to have them by my side, or hands in my pockets or have my arms crossed in front of me. My arms always seem to be giving out the wrong body language. |

Okay, maybe that's what the question meant on the rdos quiz. I interpreted it as, "of course I know where to put them, they're on me. How can I put them somewhere else?" So I always answered "no." I always thought you keep them with you since you can't take them off. No wonder I thought it was a stupid question lol. I couldn't understand why RDOS asked such a inane one.
To answer your question then, I never thought about it. I just put them wherever I wanted them. I have them swinging or have them folded or have them behind my back, etc. When I was little, sometimes my mother told me to stop swinging my arms or I might hit someone or something if we were in a store. _________________ http://www.factcheck.org/

I don't swing my arms when I walk and when I run; I tuck them up tight against my chest. _________________ On with the show...This is it. |

I went to the park because there was an event going on there and I did swing my arms while walking, it was automatic. I even walked for a few seconds without moving them and it felt weird and uncomfortable.
I will be paying more attention to other people when they walk to see if they swing their arms. I never even thought about it till this thread was brought up. _________________ http://www.factcheck.org/
