|
|
So I was at an upscale mall yesterday in Dallas with my parents and I'm walking out of a store. This woman walks up to me and she is a casting person for America's Next Top Model and wants me to go to Houston for the casting call this Friday.
I thought that was funny since there has already been an Aspie on the show. What are the odds of two?
Anyway, the filming is during my last 2 of 3 months of college, so I can't do it, but I thought I'd share
I have always wanted to model but I don't want to spend a dime on it. I have no desire to pay a talent agency or whatever, so the show would've been a great opportunity, but again, it's not worth sacrificing an engineering degree for. I'd do it as a means to make some extra money. _________________ "Shadow, my sweet shadow

Haha my sister said she'd kill me if I don't go, but I don't know... since there's no way I'd be able to do the show I just don't see the point _________________ "Shadow, my sweet shadow

Congratulations! Wow, that must have felt great!
However, I understand completely. When you weigh and engineering degree vs. modelling...well, I'd choose the same thing as you.
Still, what a rush! |

Yeah it was pretty cool... the idea of having to sit through having my hair and makeup done more than once every few weeks just makes me cringe. Modeling would be cool but a "career" in modeling... not so much. _________________ "Shadow, my sweet shadow

An update... I called the girl back and she still wants me to go to the casting call to meet the casting director. She said they could either put me on hold for another season or they could possibly just get me in touch with agency type people. I don't know. I think I will go, but I don't have my hopes up for much more than a reason for a roadtrip _________________ "Shadow, my sweet shadow

| good luck. I've done acting auditions and the best advice I can give is to continue with the attitude you already have. If you don't get your hopes up, you won't be too disappointed when nothing happens but you'll get a pleasant surprise if something does happen. |

GO! you can always go to school, ask for permission, it's not big deal to miss a couple of weeks of school. Also, it's just an audition, you still are not in the show. Also, if you get in, you'll be reprezantin' us \m/
don't live with regret "what if"...
damn, give me your phone number so I can slap you if you don't go!
just kidding, great to know you'll go _________________ One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die. |

I think it would be interesting just to see the process. Depending on how many people they have, your chances might be pretty good or slim; but still... awfully interesting to see. _________________ Female. Engineering student. Gamer. Christian. Asexual. Information Addict. Deal with it!

So apparently it's not the open casting call, but an "invite only" meeting with the casting director.
Unfortunately my significant other is not sold on the idea. At first he didn't want me to go at all and refused to let me use the car we share to drive there. He thinks that it's trash TV for trailer park trash. Eventually we came to a compromise. I can only go if
a) I don't agree to do the show, ever
b) I never do any shoots in anything less than everyday clothing
I don't really know what to think. I don't know if I would ever really want to do the show.
I'm pretty sure now that if I did go on the show he'd leave me. He says he'd lose a lot of respect for me if he did, but on the other hand, I'm not sure I'm entirely comfortable being with someone who'd poopoo on such a unique opportunity before it even becomes a reality. _________________ "Shadow, my sweet shadow

One question--are you sure these people are actually associated with the show, and not going to exploit you somehow? I'm just asking, because it's happened before, and want to make sure that isn't the case here. _________________ Female. Engineering student. Gamer. Christian. Asexual. Information Addict.
