I'm not buying that this person is autistic.

Look at all of his videos

Here is one.

Now look at his other ones. He also mentions in one that autistics should be happy celebrities are talking about autism. He seems to be repeating information read. He also has books to sell but in one video claims non profit but his website suggests otherwise.

Judging from ths video I say he is very likely on the spectrum (tone of voice (flat), facial expression (almost inexistent), seems like he's talking to himself).

I've met him in person. I don't agree with a lot of his opinions, either, but to use that as "reasoning" for calling him a fraud is very wrong. I believe his intentions are genuine. Anyway, I say that there are loads of better ways to commit fraud than pretending to be autistic.

What is it with "calling out" people lately? Unless you have a degree in human psychology and have done 4-5 hour interviews in person, no one on this site has any basis for saying some else is or isn't autistic.

When did you graduate squirrel? Do you prefer the psychologist's methods over the psychiatrists and why or why not? Are you indifferent and give a shrug?

I graduated February 2007, final essay about "the belief in a just world". I used to be very skeptic of psychiatry, because I tought they were just there to give people meds without really listening to them. I have studied nothing of psychiatry though. Then I met two different psych, the first one (probably the main AS specialist in Italy) asked me some specific questions and after 15 minutes prescribed me 20 mg of paroxetine per day, which I eventually lowered to 10. The second one was anti-med, I saw him for 3 months, it made me feel better at the beginning, then I decided to quit the meds, I went crazy, decided to stop seeing him. To answer to your questions...I wouldn't know, generalizations are rarely a good thing, I guess there is good and "evil" on both sides...

There are very few good professionals in the world in regards to the autism spectrum, and no one has all the answer inregards to autism yet.

Many have no choice but to self diagnose.... its not that simply and feel you only truly understand if your on the autism spectrum, like many of us have found in the aspie community... if you understand others there, its a good indication.

But we are as diverse and different on the autism spectrum as those that are not, so we may not all get on and/or be the same, no one is...

I did post a YouTube video of Amanda Baggs. It was not in a critical way however, I was admiring her musical talent.

When you post that YouTube you are saying this guy doesn't have autism, he's a fraud, a scam. What if he's a member here? What if he's someone's kid, someone's brother, someone's friend? What right do you have to say he's not autistic?

You posted a video of her in response to.....what?

Also, what is up with people who have minimal posts from 2006 in this thread with the exception of ASplanet who actually answered nicely.

Mage, are you a liberal? Just curious. Do I have to have a special degree to ask that question? Rolling Eyes

Rolling Eyes

I don't want to be rude, but having a lot of posts is NOT something to be really proud of, if you know what I mean...it seems to me that you are just too bitter for some reason and you spit it out on other people, that's all.

Look, I'm just sick of people posting about "Hey, this person looks like an aspie" or "Hey, this person is a faker" when in fact they have no basis for making a diagnosis. Amanda Baggs is diagnosed, I didn't diagnose her. I would never attempt to from a video. I would never attempt to in person, I am not qualified to do such a thing.

Enough with these threads already.

I just have one question:

How exactly does one "cash in on" being autistic? I'd love to get my hands on some money in exchange for being who I am, and my daughter (while not knowing about money) would, I'm sure, love some of the stuff one gets with money...
