| While it may not be a disease, it's very definitely pathological. |

Using the definition of "disease", it actually fits.
Many people assume "disease" means an acute illness, and many others think it as an emotive term, i.e., "I'm not diseased! I'm perfect!"
So yeah, the statement down the bottom of the page is factually wrong.
To add:
| Quote: | 1. A pathological condition of a part, organ, or system of an organism resulting from various causes, such as infection, genetic defect, or environmental stress, and characterized by an identifiable group of signs or symptoms.
2. A condition or tendency, as of society, regarded as abnormal and harmful.
3. Obsolete Lack of ease; trouble.

Anything can be pathological, normality could be interpreted as being pathological, it's a matter of who the 'priests' of social customs are in a society. |

Hi there,
They say; diseases are by definition curable. And they say autism isn't curable. Thus Asperger's isn't a disease.
But who are they? Doctors, shrinks and psychologists? Those arrogant tagging bastards. OK, not all but most of them see their field of profession as an absolute science, which I think is very wrong. It should be far more dynamic.
But hey, that's my opinion, thus subjective.
Et que sais je?
Best of luck to you all,
Ceesjan

it is a syndrome and not a disease
it is a disorder where structural elements are rearranged into new foundations of conciousness.
a disease is where things are pathogenically pollutive.
aspergers is not like that. |

Who's he talking to ?
And it's "It's not a desease" - not - "its not a diesese".
Though I can see where you were coming from with the DIEsese spelling. |

you want to cure it?
imagine a world of aspies in which neurotypicals would be a minority.
we would be called typical and there would be a diagnosis for them.
it's not like there are only disadvantages on our side. _________________ Timeo hominem unius libri, I fear the man of one book, St. Thomas Aquinas. |
