It's a pretty low-risk trojan, but sounds annoying.

I just happened to use the light-weight corporate non-norton version that is nothing but a kick butt antivirus. Even Norton, the consumer Symantec has lightened its load to be the lightest antivirus on the market.

This isn't new. It was discovered October 2007. The misspellings in the warning message ought to be enough of a tip-off.

The only way I know is to reformat the computer. Most antivirus software can not remove that kind of virus. If thats not an option download Norton Security Scan. Its free with the Google pack and has a pretty heavy virus blacklist.

To Give yourself a good virus cleanup with Norton.

1.Install the Norton part of the Google Pack
2.Restart Computer
3.Press F8 before windows loads up to boot in safe mode
4.Boot In Safe Mode
5.Run Norton Security Scan

I also only seen that virus on computers running w/o any windows updates like Service Pack 2. I would use Windows Update to get all the updates your computer needs. I would also get a better firewall like Ghostwall or Sygate to name a few. Winpatrol might also be good to put on top of that so no remote program tampers with your computer.[Thats how you get the Vundo Tojan in the 1st Place.]

Well, the Vundo Fix and VirtumundoBeGone programs seem to have cut down the amount of internet pop-ups I am seeing, but the fact is that I am still seeing a lot of popups (and one was advertising an adult dating site with some pretty explicit pictures of women in the nude), so it doesnt appear to have worked. Back to the drawing board, I guess
